OH! Don't worry about THAT, Hibi! Kinda like how I told ya in that PM of yours, I've always gotten SUCH a "high" at makin' people, "a little slow on the ol' uptake" and/or who somehow think being a "Man of Few Words" who has "no time for all the "B.S." in the world" somehow imbues them with an extra bit of testosterone, look at themselves in the mirror. And thus if I NEVER get an apology here, it really wouldn't matter one way OR the other to me! LOL And, I gotta a feelin' here that this "gentleman" MIGHT fit one of those two above descriptions, THOUGH I might add, IF it turns out that I've misread this guy at all, I WILL apologize to him as soon as I've discovered I have....misread him, that is. (...yep, you can COUNT on that)
-
Well, if you haven't already placed me on that there "ignore" function yet, I'll tell ya "for what" here. For accusing me of being "sanctimonious" down there, THAT'S what! Ya see, because I was brought up to believe that whenever I misread someone's comments or statements and then accused them erroneously of being somethin' that they're NOT, then I was to apologize to them later for that. Though I suppose because as you said you don't hang around here much anymore because of all those "other rude people", and that you really don't read all that much of what's written around here, I can kinda see the reason why you might not grasp that of out of ALL the folks around here, I WOULD most likely be the LAST person anyone would ever accuse of being "sanctimonious", AND because I am one of THE most irreverent souls you'd EVER have the misfortune of knowing. (...just ask anyone around here, THEY'LL tell ya!) LOL
-
And yet STILL no apology here, eh drednm?! Man, you MUST really like Duke's movies, huh! LOL (...and yeah, it DOES usually seem to be that those who are resistant to the idea of apologizing and/or who CAN'T LAUGH AT THEMSELVES and their OWN FOIBLES seem to eventually find that for some strange reason all those "other people" out there on the internet are the "rude" ones...uh-huh, now isn't THAT "funny"?!)

Oh, that face, that fabulous face II - Post 1950's. Whose is it?

I dunno, Hibi. To be honest with ya, I always thought that scene was somewhat vital in showing how those two characters were just two of the lost souls in the sea of lost souls in that little Texas town. (...have I ever told you how I was depressed for a week the first time I watched that movie back when it first opened?...great film though) -
Btw folks, as you've NOW just witnessed, the ONLY thing I've always liked MORE than tweakin' the noses of those unable to appreciate "the finer aspects of dark comedic material", ARE those who are a little slow on the ol' uptake!!!! ROFL
-
>Didn't see the humor I guess.... No matter.... LOL I LOVE it! So no apology here at all for misinterpreting my post, eh drednm?! Just a "No Matter", HUH?! (...okay, then I guess I can now ALSO add you to that OTHER list of mine of people around here who think Big Duke was somehow right when he said in "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon"...'Never apologize...it's a sign of weakness!") ROFL!!!!!!

I think this is her in the back seat with Timothy Bottoms in "The Last Picture Show", Hibi... -
Well drednm, I suppose I can now add YOU to my long list of people around here who don't quite "get" my brand of humor eithier, HUH?! LOL 'Cause dude, my previous post wasn't meant to be a " sanctimonious lecture" but WAS in fact meant to be a little tweak to the nose of people who can't find it in themselves to appreciated the "finer aspects" of "dark comedy"! (...and here I would've thought any guy with apparently as little breeding and good taste as I have would've caught the joke here!!!) LOL Edited by: Dargo2 on Aug 27, 2013 11:15 AM

I'd say you've probably nailed it here, Gorch. (..and Miles, yeah, I was thinking of Reba too...with a little touch of June Lockhart there maybe) -
Hey drednm, if your NEXT one is gonna be the old one about "the only wood that doesn't float", then ya better know RIGHT NOW that much like there still are people around who after all this time find absolutely NO humor whatsoever to be mined in the occurrences which took place inside Ford's Theater back in 1865, there are still people around HERE who'll find your post lacking in taste and will let you know about it! (...trust me, I have firsthand experience in this matter from WAY back!!!)

Well MissW, I would suppose THAT might all depend upon how good a singing voice Matthau had, wouldn't it?! (...I can't imagine a very good one, and ya know even the BEST of songs can be ruined depending upon who attempts singing them!)
-
LOL Well James, as long as you wouldn't have THEN considered the notion of patricide a reasonable one, it really wouldn't have been all THAT bad a thing, now would it?! I mean you COULD have then asked him how he always felt about Ava Gardner and maybe found some common ground THERE, ya know! (...you DO like Ava, doncha?!!!)

Though, like lavender, Janssen was a favorite of mine on '60s TV and of course particularly on "The Fugitive", I would say the only reasonably well done theatrical film he ever made was 1967's "Warning Shot".

LOL Speaking of "Hell"...for poor ol' finance! (...Mr.R,, I had no idea you could be so mean!)
-
>CAN'T imagine the FUNK y'all went into when the COWSILLS broke up! Nah, it wasn't all THAT bad, Sepia. We then jumped on The Partridge Family bandwagon. (...and it was an easy transition of course)

No, I'm pretty sure that that's Danielle De Metz again...and after her botched sex-reassignment surgery. (...and now just "Daniel" of course) -
>Dargo said:So, in essence you're sayin' that little guy Jememiah was definitely NOT a good friend of yours then, huh?! >heuriger said: I'm shocked that there's gambling.......er... shocked that you thought our little green friend was the namesake of the ol' syrup lady. I'm sure you realize it was Jeremiah, but it still provides an opportunity to needle ya, dear friend. Hmmmm...so it seems I misspelled the little frog's name with a "m" instead of a "r" there, and thus making it sound a little more like the syrup lady instead, did I heuriger?! (...well,.I guess the ONLY excuse I might have for THAT might be that after the big dust-up the other day around here, I must still have Hattie McDaniel on my mind a little too much lately!!!) LOL

> I have seen sites operate very well 'free of censorship' when there is a small (managable) number of members and these members all know each other (to some degree, on a vitural basis). But when anyone can post on such a site I have seen new members (really just trolls), take over a site, (e.g. post something 100 times so all legit comments fall off etc..) with the intent of making the site unuseable. Soon the core members are calling for a moderator! Hmmmm...so in essence an example of Niccol? Machiavelli's "Cyclical Theory of Democracy" put into practice ya say then, eh James?! (...you know, where monarchies decay into aristocracies, that then decay into democracies, which decay into anarchy, then tyranny, then a monarchy again?)

Btw, "New Theory" here, folks. Whyaduck started this thread this way to see how many tangents this baby of his would take! (...and he's sure glad I found it)

Aah...The 5th Dimension! Reminds me of my old TWA days and when for a while they used their "Up, Up and Way" megahit as that airlines' theme song in their TV commercials.

You're welcome! But NOW I'll betcha you're gonna have a Reggae beat bangin' around inside your head the rest of the day! (...so, ya wanna take back that "thank you" now???!!!) LOL

Well, "let's get together and"... see if we can think of one that doesn't suck here.... WAIT! Suddenly somehow I think I've got one here ! How about Bob Marley's "One Love" ???
