WHAT?! No "Pinky"???!!! (...and here I was SO looking forward to talking about that one after the other day's events around here!!!) LOL
-
Interesting stuff here, Perry. And yeah, definitely something to ponder, alright. But tell me...Your friend R.J. didn't happen to ask you to post this here recollection o' yours 'cause he's just heard they're about to open up the investigation to that whole thing one MORE time again, did HE??? LOL
-
How about "The Wild Bunch", itguid?
-
Forget it, finance...it's "Chinatown"! (...1974, and a 14 years after 1960, to be exact)
-
You guys evidently have no know knowledge in the field of..ahem.."Gene-alogy"! Because if ya DID, then you would know that this phenomenon was a result of a..ahem.."Recessive Gene"!!! (...hey, as I've said before around here, these babies can't ALL be gems ya know)
-
I might have misquoted John Davis there. Yep, maybe he didn't say "Motorcars". Maybe because they're are made in England, I had it in my mind that that word "just naturally flowed" after saying the name Jaguar, eh?! (...'cause I think many if not most Brits still say the word 'Motorbike" instead of "Motorcycle", also)
-
Well first, I LOVED the YouTube link! LOL Well done. However, and in regard to the idea of "censorship" you brought up...while I know these sorts of things around here seem and maybe are occasionally a consequence of overreach and overreaction, you must remember that the admins of almost any PRIVATELY owned website are usually of the mind, rightly or wrongly, that "peace and harmony must be the order of the day", and especially at websites with Standards of Conduct" that disallow the talk of "controversial" topics, and which I'm sure you know of what they consist. And unfortunately because as evidenced in the thread with the topic of "Race" in this country(which was again in my view introduced somewhat needlessly in the original and now vanished thread about Hattie McDaniel's SUTS day) still being such a "hot-button issue", I suppose the Admin felt compelled to enforce the "peace and harmony must be the order of the day" mindset. And of course which his "right" as an Administrator in a PRIVATELY-owned website. (...though yeah, I know...it still kinda sucks that some very thoughtful and insightful exchanges of thought are now..if you'll excuse the expression.."gone with the wind")
-
Nice link there, ham! Good work! And I hope it does work in that regard for ya in this thread of yours....keeping it civil, that is. (...because the talented Hattie deserves being remembered and appreciated for her work in all fields of entertainment, and NOT as just some "representative")
-
Well actually ham, I'm sorry to report to you that I already pretty much took care of all this this very morning, and when I started the "To answer your question, MissW" thread. http://forums.tcm.com/thread.jspa?threadID=170665&start=75&tstart=0 BUT, seein' as how THAT one has seemed to "devolve" into a thread where I am once again kiddin' around with people who MAY or MAY NOT quite "appreciate" my brand of humor, then I suppose this new one of yours here might not be such a bad idea after all! (...though I DO have a word of warning for ya here, ol' buddy...as SOON as a few people around here might start talkin' about how put-upon THEY are in life because of some distinguishing feature of theirs, do NOT be surprised at all at how quickly YOUR thread here will "devolve" ALSO!!!) LOL
-
"On the TOP" ya say, Jake??? Well then, depending upon how far down your hairline still goes, I suppose if you decided to re-grow that ol' ponytail you used to sport, I suppose that wouldn't be such a bad look for ya even now! (...AND of course as ALWAYS, you certainly do not need MY approval to do this...which I'm sure, no, make that VERY sure you already knew)
-
So, only a "bit" like Steve then, ya say CB? So then I take it you don't have a mole on your left cheek like Steve had then, huh?! (...now now, don't go gettin' all defensive here, my dear...that was ONLY a joke!)
-
Very glad to see we agree on somethin' around here at least, Jake! (...though why you directed your approval of my comment to Lavender and not me is now one MORE thing I evidently do not "understand"!) LOL
-
Well, I'll tell ya CB, what I DO understand, and what I hoped I made clear in that thread to everybody that read that thread was that when people of ANY color or persuasion have an almost automatic and reflective disposition to become overly defensive in any situation or discussion, that it almost without fail will lead to a cease in the exchange of knowledge and ideas between the individuals involved in said situations and discussions.
-
..and in my view, one of the most underrated Westerns ever. (...I love the ending, especially)
-
CB, I sorely wish I could help you understand how your "rape" comment was as inflammatory a comment as they came in that thread, and the idea that you are so "put-upon" because you're a Blonde wasn't really germane to the discussion in the least, but alas I'm very sorry to say I have the feeling here that no matter what I say, you won't be able to comprehend my meaning. (...and trust me here, I DON'T think this because of your hair color)
-
>Maybe next time I'll start a thread about string ties in Westerns as opposed to the more traditional neck ties in more urban settings. But then, the bow tie might play a wild card role in this. Nothing is safe. LOL Yep MissW. I can't imagine the topic of "Ties" arousing such a rancor because of the manner in which they were tied might've "denigrated" the neck of those who wore them back in the day. (...well, except for maybe how tonight's SUTS honoree Charles Coburn's double chin might've covered and hidden any bow-ties he might've worn)
-
Well Jake, as I coincidentally stated in another thread recently, JUST as long as you're NOT attempting with a ponytail to draw attention away from the rest of a bald head, then THAT certainly isn't all that foolish!!! (...'cause there's NOTHIN' as dumb lookin' as some old bald **** doin' THAT, as I HOPE you know!!!!) LOL (...okay, yes, the "classic" "comb-over" is almost as bad, but not NEARLY!!!) Oh, that face, that fabulous face II - Post 1950's. Whose is it?

So dark, it appears you decided to...ahem..."take a jump to the left" and ask about Charles Gray here and before doing...ahem..."the Time Wrap again" and returning back to the issue of that hot little Brunette down there, huh?! (...sorry, couldn't resist) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtkdo7bOmJc -
I'll never forget how effective she was the first time I became aware of her in "The Haunting", and when that movie scared the ever-livin' you-know-what out o' me the first time I watched it as a teenager on the old ABC Sunday Night Movie series in the late 1960s. (...RIP, Julie)
-
Yep, I remember your "Pollack"(wait, he was a director, sorry...I mean "Polack" ) post Sepia, and thought it made some very good points. (...except I gotta say I always thought that that ol' Rifleman made a pretty good Geronimo, and that that flick wasn't half bad...though I realize I'VE always been in the "minority" when it comes to that opinion)
-
Loved watchin' it again today! Was everybody involved in this film on the top of their game or what? (...even poor ol' Allyn Joslyn, consigned again to the "never gettin' the girl" role)
-
LOL "Not exactly" what I think Jake had in mind here, dark! LOL
-
ummmmm...okay. Whatever ya say, CB. LOL (...btw, I have to know here...did you even get that with that whole "Try being an exceptionally good lookin' guy because of the troubles I've faced all my life" shtick of mine, that I was making fun of your comparing the "anguish" of "blonde jokes" to the plight of African-Americans over the years?) LOL
-
Yep, I was pretty sure it was you who made that very valid point, James. (...I've got a memory like a steel trap, ya know...okay, so the steel has oxidized a bit lately, but still....)
-
No, John...not for the demise of that other thread. Lavender and I have a little on-going in-joke that whenever her and I have a misunderstanding, it's "always finance's 'blame' for bein' a 'bad influence'!" (...and mostly upon me!) LOL
