Hmmmm...now why am I thinkin' that somewhere along the line Rick, or somebody at least, calls Capt Renault "Frenchy"??? And... >Bogie makes fun at him at the end of the movie when he tries to kiss him on both cheeks (something my wife makes me do!). Yeah, that whole "double kiss" thing IS still "de rigueur" over there all over Europe, alright...and to this day is definitely a "fur-end" concept to us Yanks, huh!

(...and so, yeah, maybe you're right here.......maybe)

HEY now, Tom! I've never said you Canucks were "boring", either because of your inability to totally cut your apron-strings from those folks over there on that little island situated off the coast of Europe or NOT!!! Nope, ALL I said earlier was that YOU guys IN GENERAL haven't been able to perfect being big loud-mouths like some of us good ol' AMERICANS can be...THAT'S all! Well, I'll tell ya what, Tom. I TOO used to somewhat think that about the Lazslo character myself, however I noticed during the last two times I watched this film, I was starting to notice how more, say, colourfully Paul played him. Yep, in fact I now think he might be one of my new favourite characters in this baby! (...btw, you may have noticed I added a few of those "superfluous letter 'u's" in my above response in hopes you might be better able to comprehend what I was attempting to say here!)

Well to be honest with ya here Tom, you HAVE to know that BOTH Paul Henreid(AND Glenn Ford for THAT matter) were usally pretty "boring" in almost ANYTHING they were ever in. RIGHT?! (...you know, especially in Paul's case, what with all that "oh so European" subtle little manner and manners of his, RIGHT?!) LOL

Eeh! You Canucks will NEVER be able to get the hang of it! Nope! Ya BETTER just leave all this big loud-mouthed kinda talk to us YANKS!!! (...we're MUCH better at it, ya know!!!) LOL

Now c'mon, dark. I'm sure Sepia meant that metafor...ummm...metophor...ummmm....he really didn't meant it literally.

Oh, and Tom, as you might have ALSO guessed, I also can project a rather BOOMING VOICE when I feel I need to...such as say when possibly attempting to speak OVER some morons bangin' their little gavels on their desks. (...I mean, why the heck you ya think I use all these freakin' uppercase letters around here so often...uh huh, it's 'cause I TALK just like I TYPE!!!) LOL

YEAH, thanks Tom! I DO in fact feel much better now! LOL (...though I STILL say a good little "lecture" to those morons would at least made ME feel better about myself given the same circumstances...and as I'm SURE you've come to know, my "edit button" isn't used very often, and so of course there IS always the possibly that I WOULD have done that, ya know!)

Yep, once again, EXACTLY MissW! And sooooo, as I've previously stated, here I sit waitin' to see at least ONE reason why I should consider the MOVIE "Casablanca" as "boring" by ANYBODY... LOL

And btw Tom, seeing as how the conversation about Eddie has once again been turned to his unfortunate "crucifixion" during the HUAC years, I will say the following yet again here... While it IS probably "easy for me to say now" the following, I will ONCE AGAIN say that the ONE thing Eddie did which I find somewhat objectionable is that during his testimony to those morons sittin' on that HUAC committee, not ONCE while he was denying his involvement in any "Communist conspiracy" did he EVER tell those morons that they had NO freakin' idea what "TRUE AMERICANISM" is! And that what THEY were doing there was about as UN-American as what that OTHER freakin' moron sittin' on his fat butt in Moscow, one Uncle Joe Stalin, was doin' during the same time TOO! (...'cause THAT'S what I WOULD have told those freakin' morons...yep, supply 'em with a little "lecture" while testifyin'!!!!)

Thank you, finance. I had forgotten to reply to that "bit of luck" about Bogie's career. (...yep, as I've stated MANY times around here, the old "Stone Face" Raft could NOT act worth a damn...as ANYONE not taken with his "tough guy" act, his sharp angled facial features and his ability to dance the "Bolero" HAS to recognize UNLESS they're BLIND!!!!)

And then finished up with some of her MMMMMmmmmm DEE-lish-us possum pie, RIGHT?!

Yeah, and not only THAT, but I'll betcha CAGNEY was never a pain in the you-know-where whenever HE flew on commercial flights!!!! (...and so that's TWO he has over THAT guy!!!) LOL

Uh huh...OR I take it, a movie starring that "hot" Bing Crosby guy TOO, eh?! LOL (...sorry, but of all the movies I could count that I think of as "boring", this one would never come up on MY list, and I got me a feelin' there's probably millions of folks who would feel the same way as I do...and THAT'S 'cause of all those reasons I listed down there, and which given time I'm SURE I could come up with a dozen more...nope, sorry, "boring"?...NEVER!!!) 'Cause you CERTAINLY couldn't be talkin' the the MOVIE here, what with ALL the actors in top form(especially Bogie), the superlative dialogue, the excellent directing, and with the musical score being the perfect compliment to all the goings on. (...nope, you CERTAINLY couldn't be talkin' about the MOVIE here, RIGHT?!) -smirk-
