I'll have to say Barbara Stanwyck in 'Stella Dallas'.

Sunday morn wake up and smell the coffee question.
What is the only film that Herb Alpert appeared in?
-
Both Laurence Olivier and David Niven were considered for the part in 'Lolita', but Mason got it.

'Taxi'1932 is correct!. James Cagney learned Yiddish growing up in lower Manhattan.
Which martial art was Cagney an expert in?
-
Paul Newman in 'The Verdict'
-
Also Ray Milland in 'Frogs'. Paul Newman made a piece of crap in the 70s about some volcanic island that people were trapped on.

Good Job!. The answer is Jose Ferrer, who had about 4 shows running on Broadway at that time. I must say that 'The Band Wagon' is a great musical. It was a breakout vehicle for Cyd Charisse, who couldn't take the lead in 'An American in Paris' because she was pregnant. Here is one for the weekend. In what film did James Cagney speak Yiddish?

On the topic of 'The Band Wagon'1953, Jack Buchanan portrayed big-time Broadway director Jeffery Cordova. Which real life person was this character loosely based on?
-
It was the name of the character that Fred Astaire portrayed in 'The Girl Hunt" number in 'The Band Wagon'. Good trick question!
-
Raymond Massey
-
Could it be 'Girl Crazy", with Judy 1943, where Mickey is a rich, spoiled millionaires son, who is sent to a school out west?

First of all Karloff and Lugosi must thank their lucky stars that Lon Chaney died in 1930. Tod Browning and James Whale would of had Chaney playing the leads in Dracula and Frankenstein. Who knows what Lon could have accomplished in talkies?

I just tired of seeing this guy. He has a weird perspective on Hollywood. Go away already.

Lucille Ball is absolutely the greatest female comedian of all time. When it came to being a leading lady in her pre TV days, they never knew quite what to do with her. MGM gave her the lead in 'DuBarry was a Lady', but Red Skelton stole the show. Of course her best dramatic role was with Fonda in 'The Big Street'. Obviously her one sided dedication to Desi throughout the 40s hurt her film career. She is one of the best wise crackin dames ever, in the ranks of Eve Arden and Rosiland Russell.

Did anyone ever hear a rumor, that Danny Kaye, and believe it or not, Laurence Olivier had a fling. Now here's another one. Hold your breath. Debbie Renoylds and Agnes Morehead. Also Lana and Ava. These stories have been around for years. Anyone familiar with any?

I can't remember one film where William Demarest was not angry. For example, take a look at 'The Lady Eve'. Even as Uncle Charlie on 'My Three Sons, he was always mad. Oh, I do remember one film where he wasn't angry.'The Jazz Singer'.He was Jolson's buddy at the supper club.
Let's not forget Basil Rathbone. He played a bad guy quite often, and was constantly outraged at whoever the hero may be.(Flynn or Power). For old times sake, I love Una O'Connor, in 'The Bride of Frankenstein'. She was just so excitibly angry.

First of all, Judy Garland was robbed of the Oscar in 1954, because they gave it the Grace for The Country Girl. Why? I think that Brando is not as good an actor as DeNiro. I disagree about Debbie Reynolds. She was loaded with talent. Gene Kelly was known as a tyrant on the sound stage, and worked a 19 year old Debbie silly. Glenn Ford is boring. Van Johnson was very good in several films,30 Seconds over Tokyo, and The Caine Mutiny just to name a few. Janet Leigh is not known for her acting, but had some good roles. Her marriage to Tony elevated her stature. When they started hanging with the Rat Pack, that made her a "macher". Same with Angie Dickinson and Shirley Maclaine. If you were one of Sinatra's buddies, you were in.

Did anyone else cry at the end of Dances with Wolves?
Here are a few more. Brian's Song, The Enchanted Cottage, and Bang the Drum Slowly.

I always thought that Edmund O'Brien should have been nominated for his performance in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.( Supporting role). I also know that Faye Dunaway was robbed out of a nomination for Mommie Dearest. That was one of the best performances ever, but Hollywood was not ready to fully expose it's forgotten queen.
