Duh, dp = dolt! Time for me to re-screen "Ben Hur!"
-
You're so good to us, Kid! ((((Kid))))
-
Aw man, I can't remember . . . were there any water scenes in "Ben Hur?"
-
I've always thought it too bad that the White Rose Society didn't have greater numbers/support.
-
Thanks, Kid. I'm just guessing again . . . so Twinkee and I can be put out of our misery. "Spartacus" ?
-
Robin Williams did a slo-mo spoof of knightly violence in "The World According to Garp." He mimed blood spurting and did sound effects, too. I thought it was very entertaining.
-
Thanks for going to the trouble of digging up the clip, Fred . . . but I'm gonna pass. Domestic violence sounds and images, like animal cruelty representations, are things that I just can't take. Even the grapefruit scene in "Public Enemy" is a little too much for me. It's not that I'm opposed to movie violence outright . . . it's just that this gal knows her limitations.

Wild guess here (and feel like a dolt since so many of you say you know what it is and it's "too easy" . . . "Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" ?

<Big Rock Candy Mountain is an old song about a hobo's idea of paradise. "Rock candy" is very large crystals of sugar, even as big as hen's eggs, often strung together on cotton string.> That's why it was an appropriate song for the "Ironweed" (1987) soundtrack. I read the book a few months ago and was astonished by how closely the screenplay matched the novel. Edited by: dpompper on Mar 17, 2013 7:37 PM

So . . . it appears there was ONE code that I could get on board with!

Roger Thornhill stands before a disbelieving judge in "North by Northwest." Was DUI ever a $2 fine??

Margie -- in "Margie" (1946) Jeanne Crain, of course. Edited by: dpompper on Mar 17, 2013 7:25 PM

What's your favorite line(s) of dialogue from a comedy?

Not sure why that line appears in cross-out mode. -

Maybe a good item for the Games/Trivia board?? Don't know if it's my all-time favorite line, but it's a good one, I think: "You're one ugly ************." "Predator" (1987) Watch only if you're OK with multi-syllabic curse words: Edited by: dpompper on Mar 17, 2013 3:47 PM -
Take a look at the clip posted below in this string. Pollack comedically addresses this conflict-of-interest issue. I tried to cut/paste the link posted earlier by hly, but was unsuccessful after two attempts. "Jezebel" was the film I had in mind. Take it away, Miles.

Creature from the Black Lagoon

Sorry if my post was confusing to you, Tom. I never wrote anything about their appearances on screen TOGETHER. I merely stated that they were at the same event in Wakulla Springs, FL. -
That was great. Thanks for digging it up hly! I miss Sydney Pollack

No doubt that "Creature" has been engrained in our collective conscious as classic monster/horror film . . . BUT, does anyone know if it's been spoofed anywhere? The act of spoofing may be considered an homage and cements an image in popular culture. -
That's Henry Higgins in "My Fair Lady" . . . "Never Let a Woman in Your Life."
