  1. It was Ricou Browning. Thanks for prompting my memory.
  2. No, no creature garb. He did explain how hot/uncomfortable it was to maneuver in. Ms. Adams looked almost exactly the same. There also was a woman who doubled the underwater scenes (I think she said she'd been a Weeki Wachee mermaid, too, but I cannot recall her name.) Wakulla Springs is where much of the film was shot. It's one of north FL's astonishingly beautiful places. The water is VERY, VERY deep in places and you can see mammoth skeletal remains at the bottom. Then when it got dark, there was an outdoor screening of the film. It was one of the highlights of my 8 years living in Tallahassee.
  3. Love, love, love this film. Had the honor of meeting Ms. Adams and "the creature" at a reunion at Wakulla Springs, FL, a few years' back.
  4. I like "Tootsie" a lot. Bravo to Dustin Hoffman. What an acting challenge. Agreed, finance, I think those scenes ARE the funniest -- but I find many others, too. I read on one of the other threads about Esther Williams' accusations that Jeff Chandler cross-dressed. Never had heard that. Many articles of women's clothing can be VERY uncomfortable.
  5. My first thought was "Priscilla: Queen of the Desert," but I don't think that costume is outrageous enough!
  6. I've seen (and liked) SUTLM (saw it on Comcast). I added THTF to my Netflix queue to see again. Netflix doesn't have TPATL (bummer). Thanks, peeps, for all the recs. I like boxing films (and watching it live) and don't fully understand why since I'm a pacifist in other arenas. One of those happy mysteries, I guess.
  7. LOL! . . . meanwhile, Eddie G. is enjoying his strawberry jam before walking over to see "My Last Picture Show: A Walk in the Park."
  8. Either eat the green weirdo or risk the wrath of the wire hanger!
  9. I'm not just another pretty face, KD. (Confess that I didn't like RD as much as some do or as much as I like some other Tarantino films.)
  10. Twinkee's a tough competitor . . . but just in case she missed this one, "Alice in Wonderland" ?
  11. This fun thread has wildly digressed, so apologies to the OP. Big thank you to you, dargo, and to finance for all the great tips!
  12. I have a Woody Guthrie recording of "Big Rock Candy Mountain" on his dustbowl collection.
  13. Yes, indeed (one of my faves). Your turn, lavenderblue!
  14. How about that. I've seen the film but don't remember that scene. I'll have to check it out again. I remember that I liked it very much.
  15. I surely don't know. Do you? In other boxing trivia news . . . Whilst watching a special feature about Ray Harryhausen on my "First Men in the Moon" DVD recently, there was a short clip of Primo Carnera in action . . . an inspiration for one of Harryhausen's figures. Prior to seeing "Cinderella Man," I'd never even heard of Carnera. So seeing what he really looked like was kinda cool.
  16. {font:Times New Roman} {font} {font:}{color:black}LA-based private eye seeks change of venue and new supply of pocket watches.
