"Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. Um..er...whoops."
"Okay now, when I turn the light switch off, we'll play the
banana, banana, who's got the banana game. Ready, set...."

I remember seeing a short article in the newspaper about that a while ago.
Even though he's been gone forty years and his rep isn't what it used to
be, I wouldn't be completely surprised if the J. Edgar Hoover Bldg. was used
for the new one. You never know.

Well, it didn't take much to get a file, so its significance is not clear. I was
just clicking around the net and it seems that Miriam Hopkins had a rather
lengthy file since she was involved in some liberal groups or something. It
didn't take much to get the old bulldog salivating.

Rodney wasn't exactly a model citizen, and he did have a long term drug
problem, but he came up with a simple and eloquent statement at that
moment for which he'll be remembered.
There was tolerance during the early years of the republic. Tolerance for
slavery and second-class citizenship for those who weren't white males.
Fortunately that tolerance is now gone.
This did start out as a Merry Christmas thread and seasonal things usually
only last so long.
OOTP. It does have a lot of the characteristics that are associated with noir:
wise-cracking semi-good guy, extreme femme fatale, corruption, a few scenes
set in the shadowy big city, a woman named Meta. It's one of my favorites.
I'm sure I've said this before, but if I were Mitchum I wouldn't wait around for
Little Miss Moffat to take me on a one way ride to oblivion. She whacked Kirk,
so take another gun and shoot Kathie. See, they shot one another. Then it would
be back to that quiet little town and that good looking and sweet girlfriend. The
lovesick cop or forest ranger or whatever he is wouldn't stand a chance. And finally,
dude if you're trying to hide out from somebody, don't get a job in a friggin' gas station.
Same mistake that Burt made in The Killers. Bright boys!!!

"Stay back Jane. Those high heels just aren't worth it."

Not really.

Hoover was a rather creepy control freak who liked to have files on all sorts
of people who had nothing to do with violent criminal activities, especially
politicians and movie stars. He kept files on pols just in case he needed
blackmail material and on movie stars so he could get a little thrill about
their private lives. Some of the material in the files was barely above the
level of gossip. And he was also responsible for serious breaches of indi-
viduals' civil rights and other illegal activities. Not someone to be in charge
of a federal agency with police powers.

I think it's safe to say that Sir Alfred was a master of manipulation, both
artistically and commercially.

Oh hell, back in the day the FBI had a file on just about anybody who was
anybody. They probably had ongoing surveillance on Joe D's baseball glove.

The possibility of their cat playing the role of Pyewacket had these
kitty owners and their furry little friends lining up and down the block.
In other news...
The 28th annual convocation of The Cat Herders of America came off
like the preceding 27. Not much going on.

So there I am, driving along the old M1, doing a little bird watching if you
catch me drift when I sort of go all numb inside and blimey the next thing
I know I'm in this city and I notice this Frenchie, you know one of those
artsy froggy types, said his name's Cottard or Dottard, one of those funny
froggy names ya know. Well he starts going on about le cinema and
the class struggle of the workers, you know how those chaps talk. So I
says to me self Alfie old man, you'd better get out of this bloody place.
And I'm just about to leave when I notice there's some good looking Frenchie
birds with this guy, and I think Now wait just half a mo....
*Alfieville: A Strange Adventure of Limey Caution*
English chauffeur and amateur bird watcher Alfie Elkins is driving up the M1
when he has a blackout and finds himself in a sterile urban landscape. After
many strange encounters, he wakes up and heads back to London. On going
to the doctor, he learns that he has an advanced case of syphilis, which is
beginning to infect his brain, leading to weird hallucinations.

I don't know, but I find Herr Myers' "comedy" sketches tiresome. Ja wohl.

The Huxley College production of The Doctor In Spite of Himself was
a complete artistic failure, but enough produce was throw to keep the
college cafeteria supplied with fruit for three days.

There are probably many different reasons that people don't accept
man-made climate change, some of which might overlap. For some
it is a matter of politics, with the extreme right-wing position being
that it's nothing more than a hoax used by those who hope to destroy
the capitalist system in the U.S. Yes that sounds loony, but I've run
across that view. For others it may be that there is often conflicting infor-
mation out there and they don't know what to believe. And there are
likely many people who are indifferent to it. It will be interesting to
see what happens in the decades ahead, since this will be a long range
proposition.
I had forgotten that Mander was bumped off by the murderer dressed up
as his housekeeper. It seems that The Scarlet Claw is just about every-
one's favorite Universal Sherlock Homes movie. I'd agree.

Leave my regular Savile Row tailor and find someone else
a bit less expensive. What a bloody awful fool I've been.

to fall for my stale pick up lines."
"Okay, you win, so you want Uhura's number? Chekov's? I don't
know. Well, what the hell, what goes on on Mining Planet 34 stays
