Since the recent technological unpleasantness, I've been shuffling between
three browsers. Right now I'm on Firefox where I can see the number of guests
(503) and users (6), numbers subject to change of course. On IE9 I don't see
those numbers, and I don't recall what Google Chrome brings up. Not that I
meant to find it out, but Firefox is still the best.

Yep, they had that pop/folk/jazzy/psychedelic vibe going and put out a lot
of interesting music. I missed them on the first go round, but eventually I
bought most of their albums. Light Up or Leave Me Alone, John Barleycorn,
Rainmaker, all good songs and there were many others too.

I didn't remember the title, but I do remember the plot synopsis. I believe
Bruce Dern played the troubled youngster. a bit long in the tooth for the
role perhaps, not that it matters all that much.
A few years back Chiller used to show the half-hour version, AHP. They
started with the first season and went up to the third or fourth and then
started all over again. Likely one of those rights things.

It actually became the McGovern/Shriver ticket. I doubt McGovern had much
of a chance in the first place. It's difficult to beat an incumbent, even if the
incumbent is Dick Nixon, and he did a very good job of painting McGovern
as the candidate of druggies, hippies, etc., your whole 1960s boogie men,
however rdidculous that idea was. Well, he'll always have Massachusetts.

I watched a few episodes when DirecTV put on Encore until the end
of July to make up for the Viacom channels. I've seen them before and
most of them I recognized within the first few minutes. In general I prefer
the half-hour episodes because some of the hour long ones drag a bit,
though there are also some very good ones. I agree the one with Dana
Wynter playing the nurse in the spooky old house was one of the best,
but somebody must have seen The Spiral Staircase, because there are
a lot of similarities, though not the trick ending.

I know Texas has a reputation as a law and order state, but I didn't
think they'd come down so hard on a guy just because he didn't
buy a ticket.

Yes, I'm sure Hoagy saw many victims of demon rum in his business,
and he did have a protective attitude toward Homer. There is just a little
more to Rob's story. He couldn't keep away from the booze, so Hoagy
had to let him go. He then moved to Brentwood, N.J. and obtained em-
ployment at Henry's Diner as an assistant bright boy. After that he dis-
appears from the historical record.
I can't think of any examples offhand, but I'm sure there are a few cases
of supporting characters who "disappeared" from a movie. Since TBYOOL
was an adult movie and already had a hefty cast of characters, I can see
why Rob was left in the lurch. I confess I was too focused on Virginia Mayo
to worry too much about Rob. You know how it is kid.

Well, it's never a good idea to get one's history from movies. Aside from the
inaccuracy, there is not enough time to present much other than a simplified
picture of the event or individual. Johnson may have had his good points, but
today he doesn't look too much like a good person. Neither does Andrew
Jackson.
I've never seen Tennessee Johnson and never realized it was some kind of
WW II agitprop piece. If so, I think it might have flown under most folks' radar.
I confess my lack of knowledge about Candaian history. I always thought John
Macdonald was the composer of Old Macdonald's Farm. Live and learn.

Yes, young master Rob wasn't at the wedding. That's because he was
putting that samurai sword to good use by breaking into dad's liquor cabinet
and helping himself to the generous and varied supplies therein. Wonder if he
was disappointed not to find any sake there. Alcoholism does have a genetic
component. It was all downhill from there, culminating in a job as sweeper upper
in Hoagy's bar. Oh, the humanity.

"My, look at those crow's feet. Did you have a whole nest land on your face?"
"Speaking of birds, how high can you fly by flapping those upper arms of yours?"

I thought that was Howard K. Smith's voice trying to calm them down during
that heated moment. Felt kind of sorry for him. I was reading through some
articles after Vidal passed away and it seems Buckley had some kind of
yachting accident the day before and he was in a neck brace, so apparently
his movement was restricted or else it might have been even worse.
I'm not at all familair with Vidal as a writer, just as a public intellectual during
that time. I think by now it's safe to take out his books without any brown
paper wrapping.

Gooooood evening. Charles Gounod, Funeral March of a Marionette.

That's okay, sometimes I have no idea what I'm talking about either.
I can't watch those videos right now because the only way I can log
in is with IE, and I'm still using IE7, which is what I had before I started
using Firefox, but in order to watch the videos I'll have to upgrade to IE9,
which I'll do later and see what happens. IE7 is so cluncky, maybe the
upgrade is better.
Yes, I think a lot of it is OFS, folks not liking new music and sticking with
what they liked earlier. I don't really keep up with pop music like I used to,
but there will always be good stuff out there. Just like there was bad, mediocre,
and good rock or alternative music, there is likely bad, mediocre, and good hip
hop or techno, etc. The kids are alright. B-)
I prefer totally suggestive lyrics. As GB might have said--Let it all hang out.

Just like when Georgie lost his Frogger score. Ah, you'd just
start all over again and you'd have 5,000 in a month or two.

And even hit and run might be optimistic. At least Mozart likely won't be
releasing any new albums. IE is working. It's been so long since I've watched
the little green line make it all the way over. Go baby, go.

Yes it is wonderful, it's a 1938 Chateau Mouton-Strychnine with a bouquet of
mustard gas, just a slight hint of arsenic, and a underflavor of ground glass.
Well, down the hatch.

Well for a while the Germans and Russians were allies, if rather cautious
ones. They did split Poland up after all. And Hitler happened to be the one
who moved first. The Russians paid a much more horrible price than the
other allies and killed more German troops, so they did indeed come in handy.
Of course Uncle Joe was going to keep the territory in eastern Europe. Since
the Russians had been attacked twice by the Germans within the space of
25 years, who wouldn't?
I've always thought of the film mostly as a tale of indidvidual lives at a certain
time in history, but I think it's also pretty obvious there is a mild liberal slant
to the movie. No biggie.

I recall reading somewhere that Hitch supposedly had Grace Kelly strip
down while Sir Alfred viewed it through a high-powered telescope from a
distance. Whether it's true or just one of those Hollywood tales, who knows?

Just a g and an e. When those technical diffilculties took over, it messed me
up. I finally got back on this afternoon and then after about an hour, it screwed
up again. I just switched over to IE, which I haven't been on for years. It runs like
dial up. Oh well. Bild means picture, so it's picture water. Whatever.

Modest Mussorgsky, Night on Bald Mountain.

Well classical music is the anti-vibe that must be administered before the
rock/pop vibe can return in full after the disruption due to the technical difficulties.
I like classical music, but I really don't have enough time to listen to it, and
many complete pieces are on the long side, a little too long to post. Plus, my
knowledge of classical music is kind of hit and run, so I go with what I know best.

Yes, that was a funny one. Not only did he watch it, he took command of the
couch and the snacks. He was in some book discussion club and since he
only watched the movie, he never realized that the narrator was gay. He must
have really been lazy because Breakfast is a very short book. He didn't have
too much luck with books. Remember the expensive Impressionist one he
"ruined" when he took it into the bathroom to look through it? Yikes.

"Yes we can can!" said Little Nicola.

Why that's nothing. I was listening to Traffic before Steve Winwood was born.
When your soul has been psychedelicized, there's nothing to it. I even recall
when they started out as The New Cottage Men.
