h5. Will Rogers wannabe, please stand up for yourself! Ha! Dargo2, I can see you using a little lasso whilst you were spraying those comments! LOL h5. btw- I will always hope to order them by Egg Mcguffin from now on.. -
Actually, it would be a great Ken Burns project.

Also, filmlover, Phyllis is one of those rare women who actually grew lovelier and not just younger looking as she grew older. I think the work on her nose looked great! ha-HA! ;-)

I can recommend to both you and Dargo2 , _The Greater Journey_ by David McCullough. The chapters about the Americans in Paris at the time of the Civil War is particularly interesting and about the Parisians -paradoxical.

Dargo2, down here the locals are living in delusions and Southern Gothic drama of their own making. From what I have come to learn about the folks down here in the last 19 months is this: Their obesity rates come from an incredibly lousy diet and for some of them, the continual stress of living in active denial.

I love *Primrose Path*. All the reasons you stated. I have the same feelings about 1940. Edited by: casablancalover2 on Aug 19, 2012 2:28 PM

I believe it is a superior movie, but I haven't heard that it rocks.. What part really speaks to your soul? Burt Lancaster's speech near the end is the perfect summation of what we witness throughout the film. No other explanation would satisfy the viewer.

I am starting to get that feeling I have when I pull up to a four-way stop and I can hear the radios of the other drivers coming from all directions. Maybe Finance is just tuning in a station.. Busy Sunday, but busy in a good way. Not to busy to send out a song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMYLSEIbVv0 Char adores Felix

But it makes for such interesting tales in the research for Antiques Roadshow or History Hunters if a item loses it's way.

>wouldbestar wrote: Lastly, is Madison Park in New Orleans? From the Farragut stature, I?d guess so. Hi, Star! No, it's not in NO, though I don't know if an Admiral for the Union would be honored in the South. This is a statue I was reading about in great detail this last week in David McCullough's _The Greater Journey_. Largely, about the adventures and experiences of 19th Century Americans in Paris to broaden their worldview and study art. The statue was a commissioned work by Augustus Saint Gaudens, and it sits in New York City, not far from Fifth Avenue at Madison Square Park. I have be trying to find a good photo of the "Farragut window" at the United States Naval Academy Chapel, where the archangel Michael is showing the way through the minefields of Mobile's harbor. >Bildwasser wrote: Was it a window or just an open arch? Either way it was a nun who spooked Judy and caused her to fall to her death. Bad sister, bad, bad sister. Back in the day there was less concern about such things. Now that everyone wants to file a lawsuit, things are different. Everytime I see that scene, I keep thinking about crazy heights and nuns in *Black Narcissus.* I vote open arch.

Your relative did a fine job. My first foray fishing was when I was five years old with my older brother Al. He took me to a pier at Lake Harriett, where I did catch a little sun perch. Problem was, I thought at first I had caught the line on something underwater so I was afraid Al would get angry at me. I quietly put down the toy fishing pole and said I needed to go potty right away (my standard escape excuse at the time.. Cut me some slack, I was only five).. Al really pulled that big gallute (maybe 6 inches) out of the water, then said it needed to go back and grow some more. There is always a good fishing story out there, but mine is what it is..

The part where they lost track of it doesn't surprise me at all. It happened in my family too, with a precious memento of an aunt. It happens.

Hey, didn't Roger just have a sleepover at Eve Kendall's room? I think it would take more time explaining why they have beds on trains... -
Sinatra, good idea! Perfect for a late summer Saturday. I suppose I should place this later, but. . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUjHohZrHBs

Very nice, posting the song, pturman. I do appreciate it and let me explain something. I was not in a happy place last week with the earlier exchange. But the local authorities maybe done with their investigation and the the odd fellow who sprang up out of the dating site about 3 weeks ago may be just a sock puppet with no ulterior motives. Too many coincidences and a classic MO set off some bells in the last couple weeks. Add to that a total crash of a laptop and my life was put to a reboot. While I like to write, I do not like living someone's drama, so pardon my flash negative response. I feel compelled to apologize to everyone here. I am to remain casablancalover2 now, I guess. To get back to Elliot, What a difficult twist of fate that he would come up against freaking Celine and Titanic! I love so many things Canadian, but Celine is not on that list, all due respects. I wonder, in the grand scheme of things, if he seemed aware that fame and artistry are not linked. The fame will ebb and flow, and more than once the artist will appear to be making a comeback, when in truth, it is the audience that is rediscovering the artist.. Remember this, all who seek attention. It comes and goes, just keep doing what you love. Edited by: casablancalover2 on Aug 18, 2012 11:10 AM

Bernard Herrmann Obsession: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM-ZRQALINc -
Say what you will, I liked Obsession. Cliff Robertson is especially brooding and becomes strangely off-kilter once he meets Sandra (Genevi?ve Bujold) in Florence. BTW, the winter views of Florence and New Orleans are very affecting for these mystery. It was the first time I saw John Lithgow. Also , Herrmann's scoring is good.

Song #3, Billy Joe and an anthem for newsmen:
