The Nutty Professor??
-
First of all, I'm VERY new to this game (as most of you know) so it's probably not my place to make a suggestion on how it should be played; but me being the big mouth I am...I thought maybe I could offer up some suggestions. Feel free to blow me off...like I said, I understand I'm the new kid on the block. That being said, I do understand Mongo's frustration. Waiting forever to see if your guess was correct is a bit frustrating. Maybe the person who is asking the questions should let us know that they will be "away" for awhile. Something like "Well, I'm not going to be back till this afternoon to see if anyone got it right....". That way we can all stop running to the puter like idiots for hours. Same goes for the person who takes a guess. If they aren't going to be around for the answer, maybe they could say something like, "I think the answer may be ____.....but I won't be around for awhile to see if I'm right so feel free to start another round (if I'm correct) or ya'll can wait till I get back.....".
As I said....I know I'm going way out on a limb by saying all this; but I've been noticing some tension in the air and I thought maybe this might be a way to stop it

I was thinking it might have been All the Fine Young Cannibals.....I always get that one and Suddenly Last Summer mixed up...
-
OH!! I think I know what it is too (if Mongo doesn't have it, that is)!! You have first dibs on the answer stlgal. At this point I just want to know if I'm right!

I would also have to say Alice in Wonderland was/is my all time fav (kinda funny-I came in here to say that and there was moviejoe's post with the same movie..lol). I just love how magical it is, and me bein' kind of a wacky gal myself this movie has always been right up my alley. My favorite part is the singin' flowers (The Garden/All in the Golden Afternoon). I always thought the Cheshire cat was so cool....actually have a little plastic one on my desk grinnin' at me right now ~ told ya I was wacky

Funny ya ask this question classic...I had checked into "cult films" myself awhile back. I, like you, wanted to know what it was that made a movie a "cult" movie.
Here's what I found:
Cult film
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
A cult film is a movie that attracts a small but devoted group of obsessive fans or one that has remained popular over successive years amongst a small group of followers. Often the film failed to achieve mainstream success on its original release, but this is not always the case. Sometimes the audience response to a cult film is somewhat different to what was intended by the film-makers, although usually a film that becomes "cult" started-out with unusual elements or subject matter.
A film reaches cult status due to an audience's relationship to the film. This makes the designation of cult status to a film difficult, however continued success amongst a subset of moviegoers many years after the film's original release is a key defining factor.

A good site to check out a HUGE list of so called "cult" films is:

Hope it helps!

I was going to mention a VERY similar movie, mongo; but I just can't seem to tie in England & mermaid...hmmmm
-

Well, I definitely need another hint so I'll just give it a go with Bridget Jones's Diary (?)
