  1. I watched the coverage of The Bounty on CBC National news last night were they interviewed 3 of the men who helped built the ship. It was very interesting.....you could see both the pride & sadness they were experiencing. You can see this coverage on YOU TUBE...
  2. Yes, I know Dobbs started started the thread, however, I noticed he switched over to the "Sex & Nudity!" discussion.....you might say he 'abandoned ship'....
  3. "You'd think this was the TCM Message Board International News Service Forum or something..." -LOL, you really are too funny Mr. RMeingast, maybe you could get a job as a reporter for TCM (after all, you have been on top of this story all day),...but don't quit your day job..... -twinkeee
  4. They just showed the rescue of the men on CNN and mentioned that 2 are still missing, probably will be showing this again on CNN........
  5. Wow, did not know that was the ship used for 'MUTINEY ON THE BOUNTY'! Such a beautiful ship! Thank You for the information....
  6. You are too Funny, cannot stop laughing & crying at the same time because I am alone and yes I am afraid of the storm as I am a 1/2 block from Lake Ontario. As far as Niagara-on-the-Lake ending up in the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic is closest, however, it is the Lake that scares me.....more so then any Horror Movie at this time. I can see now why THE DEAD ZONE was filmed here.........
  7. You might want to revise 'US FUNDS' bit since the Canuk Buck is higher right now...
  8. Yes, that is strange.I called the 800# and not only did she say they do not have the 1929 version in stock but as well the 1940 version, which I found to be really strange.......Thank You for the info
  9. Thank You Clore for that info. I checked Warner's Archive..the good news is, they have Free Shipping, the bad news is, they ship only in the US (I live in Canada)..guess I'll have to wait until TCM decides to sell, very suprised that they do not sell THE LETTER.
  10. Speaking of the DVD, because there has been soo much controversy about THE LETTER and because I was not able to receive it on TCM, I decided I would buy the DVD. I just called TCM and was surpprised to find out that they do not sell it. She did say the more inquiries, the better chance that TCM will be selling it. So, I checked Ebay and low and behold , it is listed, however, the seller is in Long Beach, Ca,..........isn't that where the boats dock from China with there Bootleg, fake & counterfit stuff? Plus they want $17.50 plus $10.00 shipping, I am not going to pay that for what could be a bootleg.....do not know what to do?
  11. Could be, as it took For-Everrr for Bell to include TCM in there package deals.....my guess is that there was a lot of pressure for them to include TCM and then it was at a Very High cost.....well worth it though, I am just happy to finally have TCM. You Americans do not know howl lucky you are.....
  12. I think that is a good idea about changing channels (in between movies), I will try that! Thank You for the information, very much appreciated.....
  13. I agree with James, the best movies were made between the 30s-50s, those are the movies I Love! There should be a separate network for post 50s movies.........
  14. I subscribe to Bell Satellite Canada which is the best there is in Canada and I still have it go off after about 12hrs or so of steady viewing......it only seems to happen when I have TCM on though..
  15. It's my understanding that REDS bombed at the Box Office. I remember being on an overseas flight back then where they showed REDS on the flight, could not believe it since it was a well known fact that it had bombed, not a good choice. Another movie in that time period that also did not go over was "Heaven's Gate", what a disaster!
  16. LOL.......Of course I was not reffering to REPEATED viewings of the same movie, but most movies in general. Glad you knew what I REALLY meant......
  17. Like Clore, I have only had it happen after hours & hours of TCM, (not 2 or 3 movies). I just turn of the T.V. for a minute or two and turn it back on......that usually does the trick. You are right, it is extremely annoying.........
  18. I'sn't that true of a LOT of movies though, you keep hoping it will get better.........
  19. Yes, he is 'almost' up there with Walter Cronkite as far as being believable.
  20. I thought the same thing, maybe it's the hair style? In fact, she reminds me of a more current Star but can't place her.......
  21. Phil Hatman's Star on "Canada's Walk Of Fame" is long overdue!
  22. LOL.....Are you sure he was drunk and didn't upchuck because the movie made him sick.......love your line :^0 about how you envied him........
  23. Speaking of Johnny Depp, maybe not the worst ever but certainly one of has to be 'THE TOURIST' 2010 staring Angeliana Jolie & Johnny Depp. It was nothing more then 'Glitz & Glamour' and Johnny Depp seemed to be sleep walking throughout the movie. It would have made a nice Travelogue as the only good thing about it was the scenery of Venice...........
  24. How awful to have commercials on TCM! I guess we are truly blessed. From here on in, I will be complaining less about TCM! Enjoy your trip!
