financeu,.... certainly Bette would have been a better 'bet' for this movie, however, Mason would have been wrong for her too ! The part was just 'all wrong' for him !

I have never heard of it either, nor do I like movies that are boring. I would not have the patience to wait for a whole hour to 'see what happens', but since you are so patient, I can see you waiting.
Must be frustrating though. :|

Dargou, I brought up the subject of Kane when I replied to Sep. It just took off, you know how that happens.
Remember the thread about "What movie a guy should take his date to "? It took off in all different directions, but it was fun, Oui ?

Yes because in the youtube video, her face comes up to half way up to her mother's face and you can clearly see that the mother is wearing heels.
In the pic you posted, the mother is Much taller.

I only saw part of the movie where she cashed in her jewelry and the part where he bought the smoking device, that is what I went by as well what was posted on the boards.
After reading everything he did for her (which I was not aware of), of course that was 'extremely' thoughtful of him and something that 'money can't buy' ! He must have really loved her.

She isn't short at all for a ' ten year old '. She's almost as tall as the woman she is hugging in the video and the woman is wearing heels.
Obviously, she is not very tall to begin with.

financeu....guess the smokinng device wasn't such a 'thoughtful' gift after all. We women like jewelry, she cashed hers in and ends up with a smoking device, pretty depressing, Oui ! :|

Now that you explain it the way you do, I actually finally Get It !
I always knew that the Woman putting on the locket when she was about to get married was the same woman who was the mother of the little girl who put the locket on her when she was little. I did recognize her.
Other then that, I was lost

The other shot that I found breathtaking in The Locket was when she was wearing a big black hat with a veil across her face and they did a close up of it.

Is this the same tecnique that was used in THE LOCKET, where she lifted her veil? I often wondered how they did that shot .

It is unfortunate that the lap dissolves fade in and out so fast. Is it still possible to use this technique today or did it die along with the cinematographer who invented it ?

How ironic, the same time you posted the Utube post, I was watching the Very Same Scene onTV, it is much much more breath taking on TV then U tube, in fact I played it over & over again, that same scene and now know what you mean.

I just ran through the movie Citizen Kane as I had recorded it. I just find it so mesmerizing and the photography breathtaking, I have it on the shot of the pic you posted on pause.
