  1. Boy did you get a lecture and a half Huh ! :| Looks like someone wants to be in control here. Twink
  2. If 'Rosebud' should become a 'pet name ', then maybe they may want to see Marion Davies in EVER SINCE EVE (1937) . Twink
  3. If Spade had spent the night with Joel, my guess is the line-up at the movies would have been a lot longer ! The other stuff is pretty ho-hum by today's standards, like I mentioned before, I do not know what all the to-do is about . I was looking forward to reading the book but if they left out the more sexual passages, then maybe not, I'll stick to '50 Shades of Grey' instead ! Twink
  4. I know, all the to-do seems like nothing more then a Big 'Yawn' :0 Who cares that Spade spent the night or not, (what else is new) ! Twink
  5. "Fred, you are right about this." After reading your excerpt from Dashiell Hammett's novel, I can't wait to read his book ! Sounds like it is pretty juicy. Twink
  6. .......while people might have gotten all lathered up when a woman lifted her dress to roll up her stockings, that just doesn't mean much today.. ..Probably because women no longer wear stockings ! Twink
  7. ...of all my BS which I admit adding to this thread.. I wouldn't say you have added BS Dargo.......there are a few posters who have nothing to say But BS,... they are just not aware of it, that's all....
  8. ...there's also GILDA , but, if he compares his date to Rita Hayworth, there may be a problem :0
  9. LOVE AFFAIR (1939)...that's it as well, PRETTY WOMAN would be a good movie... Twink
  10. NONE of them speak English, are you kidding! I originally did suggest the original (1939) of AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER (can't think of the name), to me,as far as Iam concerned, that is the best...
  11. oh, and have a little fun along the way too.. ...not as much fun as I had in France! If he is That insecure, then Maybe she is with 'the wrong person' ! Twink
  12. ...AND yes, I do think of Joan Bennett as being 'Motherly', as in FATHER OF THE BRIDE. I do not recall having seen her in much earlier films, however, it is hard to imagine her as ever having been sexy in any roles, can't seem to get that 'Visual'... Twink
  13. How old was Lauren Bacall when She starred opposite Bogard ? I believe she was quite young too, certainly a big age difference and as well, Obviously they had the 'chemistry', we know that. So, who is to say that Lana would have been too young ? Twink
  14. Sylvia Sydney starred in CITY STREETS, the 2nd movie she ever made and she was fantastic in it. It is difficult to say if Lana or Rita would have fit the bill but, anyone would have been better then Mary Astor, she may have been a great actress but had no chemistry.
  15. Rita Hayworth or Lana Turner I think Lana would have had the 'right chemistry' with Bogey! Twink Edited by: twinkeee on Jun 8, 2013 4:29 PM
  16. < ...great Dragnet TV Show...> Now, Who would play 'You' in this TV show...I mean, you refer to yourself as being "Extremely Handsome"...so it is difficult to come up with someone to fit that descrip., ..........the only actor I can think of would be 'George Clooney' who could play You ! :| Twink
  17. Sam Spade seems almost as bad as the crooks.. ..true, I did not like the ending, the way he laughed when he left the jail, as if he had '[put one over' on her...
  18. Sam certainly is 'cool and suave', very sure of himself.........he seems to attract woment like flys.
  19. ....takes it off as if it has cooties on it...... ...yes, I noticed that..she rolls it around her arm and then 'Throws' it.. Of course, it was a 'given' that Spade slept in the bed, we knew that when he said, "I'll sleep on the couch", you knew that was 'not' going to happen, no surprises there.
  20. Yes, you're right..Bebe is much better and I have always thought that Mary Astor looked like an 'old maid', she seemed to be 'prematurely' old!
  21. It is all together ' Different ' in real life then on the screen, isn't. I do not drink at all, only because you hear so much about 'alcoholics' that I would 'not' want to become one.
