It,s funny no one ever thought of fingerprints in the movie!
I thought the same thing EXCEPT, Twins have the same fingerprints, so it would not have mattered.

I don't think the wife neglected him at all. She was always concerned about him and asking how he was.
She neglected him because she was always more concerned with what was going on with Her life and really did not make room for His.
When he stood at the end of the bed looking sorrowfull while she went to sleep is a perfect example.
She treated him more as he where one of the children rather then a Man !
Basically, they had a complete 'disconnect'!

Of course he 'didn't believe her...men are smarter then that, give him some credit!
Yes, quite clearly, his wife was quite 'oblivious' to him throughout the movie, she played him for a fool and that is why I did not like the ending!
Fred looked like a 'lost little puppy dog' and you couldn't help but feel sorry for him!
