Hey all, A long time ago, I remember watching a film about two people. I believe the main male character's name was 'Peter', while the female's name was 'Mary'. This film was about two kids growing up together. Something happened so that one of them got married (Mary, I believe) while Peter may have gone away for some purpose/reason (perhaps to jail?). In the end, one died and then the other soon followed. I know what I have described is very, very vague, but I was wondering if anyone could help me find the title (and possibly info) about this film. I know that the film was presented in black and white; other than what I have shared above, I can't place any more correct info. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks.

I remember seeing clips of a movie where a woman buys(?) bulletin board space and puts up her own name on them. (I'm thinking the name on the bb could be Gladys Cooper, but I may be wrong.) I'm pretty sure it was in BW. I thought I saw these clips on a documentary on David O Selznick or George Cukor, but couldn't find an appropriate summary on IMDB. Any help would be appreciated!
