I knew I didn't dream up the plot, but could not recall to save my life! Should've remembered all the paparazzi yelling, "Jill! Jill!" and known it was Bardot. I kept thinking Seberg, but knew that was wrong. what a great film - saw it a few years ago when I totally embedded myself in French cinema.

[losing my mind - foreign film]

trying to recall the name of a 1950s or 60s film, possibly Italian or French: A woman is in love/possibly married to a famous playwright/director, and goes to visit him on location - he's directing a big play in an incredibly old amphitheatre. they quarrel off and on, and finally, one of them commits suicide by falling to their death at the amphitheatre or the villa. driving me crazy trying to remember! thanks!
