I'm not sure why the powers that be felt a change in 'hue' would improve the boards. The problem wasn't the color but the functionality and in this regard the functionality has devolved into a morass.

..... don't childhood shoot-outs with toy revolvers pave the way for adult shoot-outs with real revolvers?---finance
The only thing in the my childhood that Revolver paved the way for was a lifelong fascination for Les Beatles.

Such occurrences are another reason why I no longer shop at Love Bazaars

Well, misswonderly, it could be worse, we could be having a discussion on the merit of Canned Heat.

A similar notion that's been on the mind of some board members:
*TOO MUCH TURQUOISE*

Spam. 'orrible stuff. I aven't ate it in bloody years.

Exactly, twinkeee.

Thank you for confirming those not so insignificant details.

Can we please stop making this thread about FredC and twinkeee? It's in poor taste to do so.

On Mackinac Island, carriage fees are determined by the time of day when one takes the carriage: $6.75 at night, $4.75 daylight.

Turquoise has origins in ancient Egypt also.

Ancestors?
Both her mother and father were born in the United Kingdom. Joan, along with her sister, Olivia, were both born in Tokyo, Japan. They went to school in California while their father remained in Tokyo as a patent lawyer. How, exactly, does this make them American actresses? Could it be because of their typical American accents?

Thank you for your sharing your opinion on Cagney, crazyblonde7. But I'm not alone in thinking Bogie was the cat's meow. After all, Lauren Bacall thought he was the greatest.

Yes, I was lamenting that TCM chooses to purchase the rights to broadcast Citizen Kane, The Magnificent Ambersons, The Lady from Shanghai and Touch of Evil to the near exclusion of other lesser known gems such as Macbeth, Othello, The Trial and Chimes at Midnight (the rights to which may be in litigation due to his daughter, Beatrice Welles).
A thumbs down to Nancy Grace though. lol
How about Robert Shapiro?
-
I did some checking and Orson Welles was on the Tonight Show six times in 1976 in addition to a couple guest host spots. All those are available for licensing from the Carson Entertainment Group.
-
James, I'm sure that if TCM wanted to show the Orson Welles interviews with Johnny Carson his son would be more than willing to grant them the rights. They chose not to and it's a shame. All the other guests they are showing this month are also available on DVD and not at a higher price.
I wonder if TCM is also having difficulty in obtaining the Carson interviews with Audrey Hepburn and that's why they settled for Dom DeLuise?
LOL
It's been years since we've had an airing of The Trial and Macbeth.
-
It's being sold as part of the Carson shows on DVD and the Welles' appearances were at the Burbank studio after 1972. TCM thinks Welles is only good for Citizen Kane.
-
And Steve Martin over Orson Welles?

*The two factors reinforced each other to push him higher than either factor would have done alone.*
I believe the two factors most responsible for Bogart's iconic status were Max and Frank Factor.
-
I must say that in the Minneapolis neighborhood in which I grew up, Bogie was the cat's meow. Cagney was just anotha mug.
-
You'll have to get 'permission' from Marty Ingels for that to be a reality.

Anyone for Tennis?

Here's a missive to contemplate:

Here is a wonderful picture of the TCM Fan Guest Programmers on its 15th anniversary with Robert Osborne. I don't believe all fifteen are present. Kyle is at the far left of the back row. My condolences to his family and friends

Nobody likes change, til the next time things are changed. Then, they realize they liked the earlier change better than the new one. Something like that, anyway.--misswonderly
I'm reminded of these sagacious words, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss."
