In these here parts, I've never heard anyone say, "I'll have a Red Soda." It's always, 'I'll have a Red Pop'.

In your post if you were to refer to African Americans as Negroes that would be a pejorative term. Gays is more commonly used now just as is the expression African Americans. Capiche?
