Why Are Widescreen Films Shown on the "HD" Channel Windowboxed?
heuriger replied to sivadselim's topic in General Discussions
The window boxing occurs on TCM-HD because they are not broadcasting in true HD.It's upconverted from TCM SD but it's not a true HD channel such as MGM HD, AMC-HD or TNT-HD. It's one of the dirty little secrets that TCM refuses to acknowledge -
So is Robert Osbourne slowly phasing himself out?

I prefer a little levity with my Duck Soup to cheese and crackers. -

I appreciate that the TCM information department is working late on Sunday night. The link isn't necessary but thank you. I pretty much said what you said about RO's time off. -

I guess the difference was that in 2011 the "vacation" lasted almost 4 months. Vacation is in quotes because it really wasn't a vacation for RO but a medical procedure followed by a lengthy convalescence. But vacation will work. No problema. -

*If you recall, the announcement was made last year when Robert O returned from vacation that Robert O talked with TCM about finding a way to spread that workload around.* I thought it was announced he would take his first vacation after a "minor" medical issue was addressed in July 2011. Is that not the case? -

It's the Yardbirds performance that makes it watchable. Jeff Beck does his best at channeling Pete Townshend by smashing his guitar to bits. It's jolly good fun.

Where Is The Romance Movies On Valentines Day ???
heuriger replied to WhyaDuck's topic in General Discussions
> {quote:title=WhyaDuck wrote:}{quote}They could get off of Oscar for one day.....and not all the movies on TCM this month have been Oscar, they've slipped some duds in here and there...they really have.... All the films in 31 Days of Oscar have won an Oscar or have been nominated. The nominations can be in any category. So yeah, some of the movies have been duds even though they were nominated or perhaps even won. -
