  4. > {quote:title=Hibi wrote:}{quote}How did the English get to be called Limeys? Was it due to using limes in their drinks or what? I dont think it was a favorable term as I remember my grandfather (who was German) when I was little calling them Slimey Limeys! (probably sour grapes from losing 2 wars..........) The British sailors ate a lot of limes to prevent scurvy (18th and 19th centuries). Limey implies lime-eaters.
  5. Has anyone discussed Prince of Foxes (1949) on the thread? If not, here's some food for thought.
  6. *I think it was Farley and he sang his signature tune, Home on the Grange®"*
  7. In the late 1970s, Colts owner Robert Irsay refused to sign a long term lease with the city of Baltimore. The signing was to give him $23 million in funds for improvement to an antiquated Memorial Stadium. He then began shopping the Colts to Indianapolis and Phoenix on the sly. He had already decided to move the franchise when the Maryland legistature gave the city of Baltimore the right to seize ownership by emiment domain. That only forced Irsay to do what he had planned already.
  8. Too bad Beyonce's songs were awful. I'm sure most were too mesmerized by the writhing on the floor show to notice the poor sound and lackluster singing. Alicia Keys, now that's a talented musician.
  9. I absolutely love William *Farley* in *I* *Love Lucy*. He's the bomb.
  10. I'd say an Region 1 DVD release of *Wuthering Heights (1939)* for starters.

  12. I always thought L.A. Woman was a metaphor for Morrison's love, warts and all, of LA. He speaks of the city as a woman. I see your hair is burnin' Hills are filled with fire, If they say I never loved you You know they are a liar Drivin' down your freeways Midnight alleys roam Cops in cars, the topless bars Never saw a woman... So alone, so alone So alone, so alone
  13. > {quote:title=finance wrote:}{quote}What are you supposed to do while on the toilet, read "Crime and Punishment"? Some people may be reading, "Down in the Dumps"
  14. > {quote:title=calvinnme wrote:}{quote}I just want to say I appreciate all of the "thank you" replies. It's so much better than being constantly nagged by a certain individual about when the June schedule will be out! That certain individual has checked out of the Hotel California but he can never leave.
  15. > "Walk on the wild side" Isn't that song about Miami, F L A ?
  16. I think you are referring to Celluloid Heroes by Ray Davies. It mentions Hollywood Boulevard but not Sunset Blvd. *Everybody's a dreamer and everybody's a star,* *And everybody's in movies, it doesn't matter who you are.* *There are stars in every city,* *In every house and on every street,* *And if you walk down Hollywood Boulevard* *Their names are written in concrete!*
