  1. The 1946 Great Expectations is brilliantly photographed by Guy Green. I especially like the first scene when Pip is dashing across the swamps and he encounters Magwitch in the cemetary. The scenes when they go rowing at night on the Thames and the cabin on the river are also beautifully lit. Masterful job of light and shadows. I prefer this production to Oliver Twist.
