Way back when I saw a black and white movie aired on TV which seemed to be a foreign movie without a lot of dialogue. The characters may have been stranded sailors on what seems to have been a Mediterranean island. At the end a mysterious object (to me) lands into the water supply of a village. The implied ending is that there was a mass poisoning. Sorry if I'm misrembering this but the scenes were striking enough to stay in my memory for 40-odd years.
