  1. SLAYTONF, YOU DID IT ! It *was* Yves Montand I saw and made me think of Pepe Le Pew. When you first mentioned him I checked out a few clips of him on YouTube and I just didn't see the film I was looking for. When you mentioned him again I looked into it some more and found the movie I saw him in 2 years ago. It was Let's Make Love. Anyone who wants a laugh can check him out on YouTube at

If you look at the 2 minute 25 second point in the clip and the next few seconds he says "Keeese me baby" with a voice and look you would expect of Pepe Le Pew.

You were correct in saying Pepe Le Pew could not have been inspired by Yves Montand. However, how do we know that Yves Montand's entire career wasn't inspired by Pepe Le Pew?

The internet is so great. It only took one day to get the answer I wanted to an obscure and objective question. It took me another week to find the role Yves Montand played to confirm it. Thats still pretty fast.

    Gratefully,

  2. Vallo13, I want to thank you for your time spent in attempting to help me with my burning question. While everything you wrote is entirely correct, Charles Boyer is not the actor I am thinking of. Sorry for ending that sentence with a preposition. While much credit has been given to Mr. Boyer, I personally see no resemblance to Pepe Le Pew's voice or facial expressions. He does have a French accent however while a bass and a tenor can share an accent, their voices are quite different. You might recall Pepe Le Pew had sleepy, bedroom eyes when sweet talking a conquest. He also had a smile that caused the corners of his mouth to rise in exaggerated proportions. Charles Boyer has neither. Unlike myself Pepe Le Pew ended his sentences with a proposition. The actor I seek was neither the inspiration nor given much if any credit for the fortune or misfortune of looking like Pepe Le Pew.

The resemblance was so strong I called a freind to have them turn the movie on and check it out and I wasn't even stoned. My freind agreed. She may have been stoned but I wasn't...Honest officer. Now where are my Nilla Wafers. The search continues!

  3. Thanks for your help. While Maurice Chevalier is very very French as is Pepe Le Pew, I am very familure with him and I know he is not the one I am thinking of. I will look into Charles Boyers work to see if it is a match. The creater of Pepe Le Pew claims a freind of his was his insperation and I accept what he says but the actor I am trying to remember is a so close I can not watch him without laughing at the way he talks, and the expressions on his face.

Can you believe we are taking the time to discuse this? I hope I find the answer. If I do I will share it with you and you will LAAAAAAAAAUGH.

    Thanks again,

  4. I believe it was about 2 years ago Robert Osborne showed a film and the actor reminded me so much of Pepe Le Pew. I am not just talking about the voice but the facial expression even down to the eyes. I am thinking that even Robert commented on it but my mind may have been playing tricks on me as I was so taken aback by how much they looked alike. Well as much you can imagine.

Please help. It is driving me nuts because I can not remember who it is and wanted to share this with someone who needs a good laugh right now.

    Thanks,

    Random Dude
