Hi, don't know if I am in the right area for this question. I am looking for a Charles Laughton film name. The movie is about a kind and sort of quiet man (Charles) who is married to a real ball and chain of wife. Anyway he meets a nice lady I think a waitress not sure, he falls in love with her and his wife has an accident falling down the stairs and dies. I think he kind of helped somehow for her to fall. Fast forward he's about to leave on a ship with his love when he finds out the detective is going to put some innocent man in jail for his wifes death. He selflessly leaves his lady friend and ship to turn himself in for his wife's death. Wonderful plot and great human nature story.
