The romantic movie I believe was set in England. The couple are plain-looking, soft-spoken, and boring but after each enlists in the war effort, they come into their own. They live in an apartment when the movie begins but the husband leaves to serve in the army and later the wife enlists in the women's army. When each has leave from the army, they do not go home to be with each other but find an excuse to stay away. Later they find new lovers and want a divorce but in the end they realize they love one another.
