  1. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, Miss Wonderly. I went to South, the same High School as Kate Nelligan. Co-stars Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were both born in the same hospital here, too. Cheers!
  2. July 1st is Canada Day - the anniversary of the birth of our great nation. Canada has been a major influence on Hollywood from the beginning. I was disappointed to see no special programming on July 1st, 2014. Anyone else feel the same way? Thanks. Mark London Ontario
  3. Kay Lenz - "Rrrowrr"... Rich Man, Poor Man, YES, but also the cult classic House and the Rod Stewart video "Infatuation".
  4. HE'S EVERYWHERE, but OMG WHY HERE?? At least there's one mayor in North America taking crack off the street!
  5. "Someone who is great reminds you of no one else." THAT'S Burt Lancaster! What an actor, what a presence, what a spirit, what a career! Think of how strong his later movies were! That's rare! Atlantic City! (Wow!), Local Hero, Field of Dreams, even Tough Guys, reuniting with Kirk Douglas for a laugh. My all-time favourite Burt Lancaster movie is The Swimmer. Thank you, Burt Lancaster!
  6. Mary-Louise Parker is my all-time Hollywood Crush. Grace Kelly is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen on screen. I've always thought that Mary Steenburgen was pretty wonderful, too.
  7. From Wikipedia: " Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honors people who have served in armed service, also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11. It coincides with other holidays such as Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which are celebrated in other parts of the world and also mark the anniversary of the end of World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect.) Veterans Day is not to be confused with Memorial
  8. Hi folks, thanks for reading and Replying to this thread I created today. I live in Canada, and for many Remembrance Day is a big deal here. We wear our poppies for weeks before November 11th to remember our veterans, many of whom fell on the battlefield and many of us observe a minute of silence at 11:00 a.m. We don't have both a Memorial Day and Veterans Day like America. From Wikipedia: " Veterans Day is an official United States holiday that honors people who have served in armed service, also known as veterans. It is a federal holiday that is observed on November 11. It coincides with
  9. No War Movies today, November 11th? aka Armistice Day Remembrance Day here in Canada... Kind of disappointing, TCM No "All Quiet on the Western Front" ? "The Longest Day" ? "A Bridge Too Far" ? "Midway" ? "Tora Tora Tora" ? "The Battle of Britain" ? "Coming Home" ? What other movies could they have shown, people? Thank you to everyone who fought and served and sacrificed to protect our Freedom. especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice... Thank You. We will never forget...
  10. The worst movie I ever saw, and I saw it in the theatre, was HARDWARE (1990). I've never walked out of a movie, but my brother and I talked about it, that's how bad it was. I see that it is out on DVD and I cringe when I see it in the store.
  11. Thanks for creating this thread, Filmlover. As I said, this where I learned of Dennis Farina's death. I mentioned Big Trouble, but I also remember him in Manhunter, another underrated gem that I actually preferred to Silence of the Lambs. You have a great day and obviously thank you for all your contributions to these Message Boards and Fan Community. Mark London Ontario.
  12. So Sorry to hear about this! I just learned about this HERE and then had to Wiki it. What a character actor! Equally adept at drama or comedy, movies or television. He seemed very personable and classy. How cool would dinner with Dennis Farina have been? Of all his work, the one I think of first is the Tim Allen movie BIG TROUBLE. An underrated gem! RIP Dennis Farina. Thank you for your contribution to movies and TV. My sympathies to his family and friends.
  13. The chicken is more important than the egg because chickens can have value without producing eggs. Oh wait a minute - chickens come from eggs! Eggs are mandatory to produce chickens! Hold on a sec! You need to chickens to produce eggs! WHOA - I GET IT NOW !! Can I phone a friend? Actors are more important because they can direct themselves (literally or figuratively) or be charismatic no matter who's directing... Directors are more important because they co-ordinate ALL the actors as well as all the other elements that make up a movie. I'm sure every movie s
  14. I think I remember a Shirley Jones interview where she said that she had heard that George Sanders had a reputation for being a jerk, but she said he was kind to her and her young son who visited her on set (Dark Purpose, I think) What a character actor, though, eh. They don't make them like that anymore!
