Same name, but NOT the same person.....
HoldenIsHere replied to Sepiatone's topic in General Discussions
I met someone named Rod Stewart once (not the singer). He didn't ask my opinion of his sexiness. -
I found this clip on YouTube of Shelley Duvall talking about Kubrick's use of 18mm lens in THE SHINING.

Here's the trailer for AMERICAN POP:

"There's no gender here . . . " -
Did DARK OF THE SUN air during the tribute to Rod Taylor after his death?
-
Reading this thread I wish I had seen some of the movies that aired on his Summer Under The Stars day. I've only seen Warren Oates in BADLANDS as Sissy Spacek's father.

Where is the "Upcoming Classic 20th Century Fox films" thread?

LLOYD'S OF LONDON is a good movie starring a very young Tyrone Power. TCM has aired it at least once---that's where I first saw it.. -
I wonder if J. D. Salinger's heirs will sell him out and sell the movie rights to The Catcher In The Rye.

YET ANOTHER DESCRIPTION THAT DOESN'T MATCH THE MOVIE
HoldenIsHere replied to AndyM108's topic in General Discussions
I've noticed for the past 2 months that the woman who says "Hi, this is your movie news for [insert month]" doesn't say "Hi" with the same inflection as she used to. Her voice sounds a bit deeper too, but I think it's the same person. -
NEXT TIME I MARRY starring Lucille Ball is scheduled to air on TCM on September 16. It's an RKO movie from 1938.

You probably already know that PSYCHO was the first mainstream movie to show a toilet on screen . . . and it was actually flushed! GASP!
-
I was amused by the way that the twins (both played by Carol Burnett) carried on a conversation with each other. And the way the boat accident (which was actually shown in the movie) was described in the parody by the aunt as she watched through the window with her binoculars.

You're welcome, sapphiere. Yes, today was the day that the new STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS toys were "unboxed." I wonder if Oscar Isaac has an action figure of himself as Poe Dameron? -
For a second I thought this was another thread about Sally Fields.
-
Yes, I wish TCM would air THE CHANGELING. I agree it would be a good movie to air in October. There's no article so it appears that it's never aired on TCM. It's another movie that also stars Trish Van Devere, George C. Scott's wife.

Has anyone seen this film on Netflix?

Was this movie ever available on Netflix? -
I love THE DAY OF THE DOLPHIN, another movie that TCM introduced me to. It stars George C. Scott and his wife Trish Van Devere (who plays his wife in the movie). "Pha loves Pa." ---- it gets me every time

I will look for that interview with Shelley Duvall where she talks about Kubrick.

Yes, I'd love fot TCM to air AMERICAN POP. Here's a powerful clip from the movie:

I'll have to look for the featurette. I'd love to see Shelley Duvall strike back at Kubrick. Reading about how he emotionally abused and belittled her so she'd be broken in his movie made me angry.

I think Oscar Isaac would be a good choice to play Desi Arnaz. Here he is as Poe Dameron in the upcoming STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS: -
I wonder if Bakshi ever intended to do a second movie to complete the story?

' Here's a funny parody of A STOLEN LIFE from THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW. In the parody (called "A Swiped Life") Carol Burnett plays the twins that Bette Davis played in the movie.
