That post by 'CaveGirl' dropping the name of Gorgeous George reminds me of that old Bugs Bunny wrestling cartoon with Crusher vs. Ravishing Ronald (The De-Natured Boy). Think it's called BUNNY HUGGED. I'd recommend this cartoon; makes me laugh every time I see it.

WATERLOO BRIDGE (1931) is airing on TCM on August 20 as part of Mae Clarke's day during Summer Under The Stars.

I haven't watched any of the Movie Camp commentaries.
I haven't been avoiding them per se, but I guess he movies being shown so far haven't interested me (or I had seem them recently).
I admit that I kind of miss the Essentials Jr.
I'm a fan of Bill Hader and I liked a lot of the movies that aired when he was the host.

It kind of looks like she was wearing ear muffs and Zachary Carson was all "look we need to talk, can you take those things off?" And she just sort of slid them down the back of her head somehow.
Yes, definitely an ear-muffy look, just like the hairstyle of Princess Leia in the first STAR WARS movie.

Themes in John Wayne films:
Use of the word 'Rio' in the title.
Use of the word 'Big' in the title.
Character names that begin with 'Mc.'
Military man with estranged wife, and rarely seen son.
I wish that TCM was airing RIO GRANDE during John Wayne's day.
I saw part of the movioe when it aired when Maureen O'Hara was Star of the Month, but I haven't seen it since then
It was interesting seeing Claude Jarman Jr (best known as the kid from THE YEARLING) in an adult role.
Boy, did his voice change.

interesting discussion re: neo-noir & Woody Allen's "Irrational Man"....
I think an argument can be made that Woody Allen's MATCH POINT could be classified as neo-noir.

I know a local Filipino pool player named Marlon who's always being mistaken for a guy named Francis. Neither of them slur their speech or carry around butter sticks just waiting for opportunity to strike, and neither of them ride a motorcycle.
IN A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE Marlon Brando gives the impression of mumbling without actually mumbling
His dialogue is clearly understood but a great many viewers of the movie come away from it thinking that he slurred his speech.
Just another testament to the brilliance of Marlon Brando.
I had a professor in college who saw him in STREETCAR on Broadway. She'd heard people comment about Brando's "mumbling," but she said seeing his performance as Stanley Kowalski was like watching a great Shakespearean actor in command of his craft and also seeing something viscerally real.

I'm looking forward to all of the Godard movies.
I missed MASCULIN-FEMININ the last time it aired on TCM.

You are correct. Maria and Pat became friends. Rocky Cooper, Maria`s mother, remarried after Gary death to Dr, John Converse While making GHOST STORY with Melvyn Douglas, Pat learned of Rocky`s husband`s passing.Maria had wanted Pat to get in touch with her mother for sometime, and Pat sent a condolence note.Rocky sent a very nice letter in return, saying that that she would like the three of us Pat, Maria, and Rocky to have lunch together. Pat had found peace in her life..
Is there truth to the story that Gary Cooper's daughter once spat at Patricia Neal?
This would have been before they became friends, probably when Patricia Neal was involved with Gary Cooper.

I only watched the first 15 minutes or so on TCM , but I didn't notice the frame-jumping.
I have this movie on DVD.

I'd like to contribute short reviews that appear on Watch TCM film information pages, but don't know how.
Also, I read quite a lot of informed, interesting reviews in TCM forums, but the large majority of reviews on Watch TCM are really poor, lacking any informative information, just users inarticulate opinions. Wonder how the ones that are used are chosen?
So they don't just have the Maltin reviews posted?

Here's the TCM "Letterbox" short I was referencing, Speedy...
I haven't seen that short so long I felt a case of the heebie jeebies coming on.
Now I'm okay.
I really, really want them to bring the "damn good actress" clip back.

Neither have I, but I imagine it's no picnic.
Did you mean that it's no PICNIC?

Why?
JAWS is about a great white shark laying claim on an island community (Amity.)
FUNNY GIRL is about a great white woman laying a claim on an island community (Manhattan.)
and both will devour anything that gets in their path.
You make a very excellent point.
And the JAWS theme is melodically similar to the opening horns of "Don't Rain On My Parade."

מדוע לא יהיה כשר גם עברית?
But your question mark should be on the left.

I know that alum is a compound that is used when pickling. I think it's also an ingredient in Baking powder.
Interesting.
I thought ALUM might be an acronym.
So why would anyone use alum to wipe one's butt?
I'm even more confused . . .
-
I'm of a mind that people who use phrases like "loathe and despise" have continually wiped their b u t t s with too much ALUM to enjoy much out of life.
But, I don't care much for animal abuse in movies, and GREASE II beat a dead horse WAY too much to be amusing.
There were no horses in GREASE 2.
You still haven't explained how you couldn't be paid any amount of money to attend a screening of the movie.
I just can't grasp that.
PS. What is ALUM anyway????

Are we allowed to post in Hebrew or are non-Roman alphabet languages frowned upon?
-
They did. It was called FUNNY GIRL.
You are wrong for that!

Ah, yes, VIVA LAS TORGAS was the British title and TORA LAS VEGAS was the North American title . . . or was it the other way around?
