Awww, I like the idea of their being a sole judge.

Quite a few online articles are "published" without enough proofing. Many times I see duplicated and missing words or even entire phrases or sentences written twice. I've also seen instances where I tell the writer was taking his or her sentence in one direction and then changed the approach but failed to go back and remove all remnants the original attempt.

Was Hannibal Lecter a psychopath or just a cannibal?

Speaking of sisters and WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE, there have been rumors for years about a musical adaptation with Liza Minnelli and Lorna Luft.

I think it was you, LHF, who pointed out that Michael Caine's own pronunciation of his name is "my cocaine." -
Costume Design: Period and Timeless

I love Irene Sharaff's costumes for FUNNY GIRL. Like all great period costume design (or should we say costume art?) they capture the time period of the piece but are also a product of the time in which they were created.- 219 replies

HITS & MISSES: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow on TCM

I saw part of it too and I was wondering if Dyan Cannon's manicness was explained at some point in the movie. She seems quite low key in other things I've seen her in. -
Regarding Raymond Massey, I must say this: It annoys me greatly the way he sometimes (most of the time?) pronounces the name of his son Aron as "Ay-ron" in EAST OF EDEN. No one else in the movie pronounces it that way, and I think there are a few instances where he doesn't.

It's definitely worth the $1. I enjoyed the movie very much.

Who Are These Mysterious People?

I wonder if Donald Trump has their cell phone numbers? -
Was Norman Bates a psychopath? What about Margaret White?

Thanks, speedracer. I see now that it does look like Dick Van Dyke in the clip with Debbie Reynolds. There's no full view of him, but I think you're right. As much as I loved THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW on Nick At Nite (and now especially the uncut episodes on DVD), I never really got into THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW (which also used to air on Nick At Nite).

I think LOVE AT FIRST BITE famously had a song that appeared in the theatrical release replaced in the video release.

What? no HUSH . . . HUSH SWEET TORLOTTE?

Interesting article: Should You Name Your Baby Anakin? The Rising Popularity of a ‘Star Wars’ Baby Name https://www.yahoo.com/movies/should-you-name-your-baby-anakin-the-rising-126090493232.html Apparently "Anakin" made the Social Security Administration's annual list of top 1,000 baby names in the US. in 2014.

Are they really "stars"? Some questionable SUTS selections.

Exactly . . . nothing against Gene Kelly. -
TOURA is only number 3. TOURA is aired quite frequently in TCM now, but there was a time when it never aired.

Here's an article from 2009 about music licensing fees keeping shows from being released on DVD. WONDER YEARS is specifically mentioned. COLD CASE is another show where the songs are very important.
-
I thought that music rights can be a separate issue. I know in the case of TV shows being released on DVD there are often substitutions (or eliminations) made when the music rights cannot be obtained for what's believed to be a reasonable price. For example, many of the songs that aired during the original broadcast episodes of ROSWELL were replaced by different songs on the DVD release. Also, on one episode from season one of THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, a character's whistling "White Christmas" was replaced by indistinct whistling on the DVD release.
-
I think in most cases it does come down to not being able to secure all the rights, including music rights.
-
Yeah. me too. The ending of BURNT OFFERINGS (which I think involves Bette Davis) is supposed to be mindblowing.
-
I see that BURNT OFFERINGS has been bumped from the TCM schedule.
-
I purchased FREAKS AND GEEKS Complete Series (one season only as you mentioned from 1999- 2000) on DVD. It was a little pricey for a single season but they were able to secure all the music rights for the songs that played during the original broadcasts. I love that show,

It appears that BLUE VELVET has once again been bumped from the TCM schedule The David Lynch shorts are still on the schedule for the overnight hours on October 31, but Lynch's BLUE VELVET has been replaced by TWICE UPON A TIME (which doesn't appear to be connected to David Lynch). TWICE UPON A TIME (an animated feature from the 1980s) looks very good, but I am disappointed that BLUE VELVET has been taken away yet again.
