okay honey, I wouldve quit my job 100 * over it wasn't for the site. Another warning though, sometimes it has issues loading and not responding you have to close it down to reopen it. But seriously so juicy it's worth it.
Is there any NSFW content?

HOMAHGAH!!!! I wasn't even three lines into your post when I was saying out loud "oh my God yes!" In re: Richard Harris's guyliner.
Okay, I admit it: he looks good. Guyliner works on some guys, but look, Richard, Love, just because you can get away with it doesn't necessarily mean it's right for this role.
Richard Harris's use of guyliner in CAMELOT was before its time.

Vanessa Redgrave's chic, worldly Guinevere is technically a more sensible rendering of the character- (when Julie Andrews sings her [admittedly wonderful] rendition of THE LUSTY MONTH OF MAY, one gets the impression that her idea of "a nasty thing or two" to do is ripping the tags off a couple of mattresses; whereas Vanessa lays the sex on with a trowel.)
Vanessa Redgrave is absolutely the reason to see the movie CAMELOT.
I love, love, love her in this movie!
Julie Andrews is a better singer, but Vanessa Redgrave is the definitive Guinevere for me.

BLUE VELVET is on the schedule for October 31 (actually early November 1).
I hope it doesn't disappear from the schedule this time.

I haven't; of course nothing could ever top the statement Omar made about Barbra (something about her being a "monster"- and they were former lovers too!)
When did Sharif say that about Streisand?

HoldenIsHere--have never seen the movie Camelot--have the original cast album with Burton, Andrews, & Goulet almost memorized. I'll have to listen to Redgrave sing next time Camelot is on TCM--Harris had quite the speaking voice--he might have turned out to be a good singer--Nero--don't remember him in any other musicals--hope they dubbed him.
Yes, Franco Nero's singing was dubbed in CAMELOT.
He and Vanessa Redgrave fell in love during the making of the movie.
They drifted apart but reunited relatively recently and are now married (although the marriage is not "legally binding" by their choice).

Here's the GOOD MORNING MISS BLISS opening:

I've never forgiven him for CAMELOT either.
I think Vanessa Redgrave is very good in CAMELOT.
The score, of course, was transposed to suit her range. Her interpretations of the songs are wonderful. She knows just where to "talk" the lyrics.
She has a beautiful speaking voice and is brilliant actor.

Too bad Tor Johnson couldn't be SOTM either.
Maybe TCM could have a Tor Johnson day during Summer Under The Stars.

Yes. And besides, it's not Hollywood that needs to change - it's "fans".
Yes, "Hollywood" is about giving movie audiences and television viewers what they've demonstrated that they want to see.
"Hollywood" is about producing what will sell movie tickets and bring in the ratings and hence advertising dollars.

Is this on topic? ...
Another Bernhard Herrmann score that completely overpowers the movie is The Naked and the Dead (1958). But in its case, it didn't bother me one bit as I could at least enjoy one aspect of the movie.
This reminds me of my mother telling me about the first time she saw STAR WARS.
A little ways into the movie she realized that she hated it but decided that she would try to enjoy John Williams's score, but she ended up falling asleep.

The Ava Gardner thread has apparently had people.search some of her films on the database, as some of her titles have made.the top ten.
1. ONE TOR OF VENUS
2. THE HUCKSTORS
3. TORQUAKE
4. THE ANGEL TOR.RED
5. THE LITTOR HUT
6. TORWHANI JUNCTION
7. LONE TOR
8. SINGATOR
9. SEVEN TORS IN MAY
10. THE SNOWS OF KILIMANJARTOR
10. PANTORA AND THE FLYING.DUTCHMAN
10. TOR LIN
I suspect that TOR BOAT didn't make the list largely because Ava Gardner's singing was dubbed.

Wonder why they keep this story going? Loses something when she doesnt die...........
Yikes, Hibi. The coldness of your words nearly froze my hand when I clicked on your post.

-
By the way, does anyone know if Cher is dying??? The Star was running it as front page news a couple months ago. And now last week The Enquirer was. I dont put much stock in The Star for anything, but The Enquirer is often right on their death watch stories. Didnt have time to read the article. I'll have to catch it on their website after this weeks issue comes out (LOL)......

Talking of Over the Top, I just saw Patti LuPone in an enjoyable new play called Shows for Days. It suits her character to be OTT as did her foray into the audience the other evening to grab a cell phone from a texting audience member:
http://nypost.com/2015/07/10/three-cheers-for-patti-lupones-strike-at-cell-phones/
I would have loved to have been in the audience during the performance of PATTI LUPONE GYPSY where Patti LuPone stopped "Rose's Turn" to yell at the person taking pictures, who was eventually removed from the theater.

I think Frazey is a unique singer as well. So nice to hear a singer that doesn't go for that tiresome trilling style so many use to convince people they can sing.
Yes, Frazey Ford has a unique voice and a unique singing style absent of that very tiresome quality that is so emulated by AMERICAN IDOL contestants and brings applause from the audience and judges on that show.

Hollywood needs to reform and start putting all fans of entertainment first art first and profit second .
Profit has always been the driving force behind "Hollywood."
I don't forsee "Hollywood" ever abandoning the capitalist model in favor of the socialist model that you are proposing.

And Bernard Herrmann recycled more than a little of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL music for Hitchcock's VERTIGO. Man, I hope that Hitch knew he was getting "recycled" music when he hired that guy
On the subject of recycled music, Frank DeVol recycled the musical stinger that accents the moment in THE LEGEND OF LYLAH CLARE when Elsa steps into Lylah's footprints outside Grauman's Chinese Theater (and other dramatic moments in the movie) for THE BRADY BUNCH Hawaii episodes.
This bit of music ("Oo-ee-oo-ee-oo WAH!") is used to accent the tiki statue that brought the Bradys so much bad luck, including Greg's near-fatal surfing wipeout and Alice's back injury during her hula lesson.

My kid recently broke up with her boyfriend of nearly 5 years. Last week she heard this on the CBC station while she was driving and she said it just seemed to leap out at her. As soon as she got home she looked up the video and sent it to me. Terrific song.
Thanks for sharing this song and introducing us to Frazey Ford.
Such a unique voice like the late Amy Winehouse.
The lyrics of "Done" must have been inspired by real experience.
"My joy takes nothing from you" is especially powerful. It's amazing to see relationships where one partner is truly bothered by seeing the other one experiencing happiness.

.Bring back the dukes of hazard on t.v. land
No, don't bring back DUKES OF HAZZARD to TVLand.
Instead, bring back good shows to TVLand and Nick At Nite like THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW, I LOVE LUCY and of course BEWITCHED.

Here's the STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS behind-the-scenes reel that J. J. Abrams recentrly unveiled at Comic-Con 2015 in San Diego:
Director J.J. Abrams, producer and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan were joined on stage by cast members Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and (to the surprise and delight of the audience) Harrison Ford.
Ford, making his first public appearance since his plane crash in March left him hospitalized and injured, assured the audience and host Chris Hardwick that he was fine. The already excitable crowd exploded when Ford, the last to be introduced, walked out.
Seated next to Hamill, the gruff Ford was not hesitant to talk about his reluctance to revisit the world of "Star Wars" and the character of Han Solo.
"It should have felt ridiculous, it was 30 years ago," Ford said. "I sort of grew up."
He never thought that he'd do another film after the original trilogy.
"I was very gratified when I read the script because I read something that I thought was really remarkable, really well-written and with some very intriguing developments," Ford said. "I was delighted to be involved and I was very happy to be part of the story and the cast again."
"The Force Awakens," which hits theaters on Dec. 18, picks up about 30 years after the events of "Return of the Jedi."
Before fans were treated to the "Star Wars" veterans, they were introduced to the newcomers on the light side of the force and, for the first time, those on the dark side.
Adam Driver, Gwendoline Christie and Domhnall Gleeson were on hand representing the bad guys. As the mysterious three-pronged lightsaber-wielding Kylo Ren, Driver tried to skirt any questions about his character.
Gleeson, whose character's name was revealed to be General Hux, didn't hesitate to say that he was evil. While talking about getting the role, Gleeson accidentally "spoiled" the name of his command station, much to the dismay of Abrams.
Christie, who plays the chrome stormtrooper Captain Phasma, talked about how neat it was to be playing a character in full costume who is "not about the way she looks in the flesh."

(IN THIS SPOT, IMAGINE A HUMOROUS IMAGE OF TOR JOHNSON THAT I WOULD'VE POSTED WERE I "ALLOWED TO USE THAT IMAGE EXTENSION" IN THIS COMMUNITY.")
Yes, what exactly does it mean when this or that "image extension" is not "allowed in this community"?
I've had to abandon a few really good images in a post due to that alert.

Just wanted to mention, while I've avoided THE AVIATOR for some time (due to an anti-DiCaprio bias) I thought the film was excellent. Scorsese directed a dramatic, evocative, beautifully photographed portrait of an eccentric genius, slowly succumbing to his mental demons.
Gotta say, though, was not pleased with any of the other celebrity portrayals. Although trying to depict any well-known persona has GOT to be one of the most challenging and thankless roles an actor can attempt. Most folks will never be satisfied. But, especially toward the end of the movie, I really did finally see 'Hughes' in DiCaprio.
Must say, of the Scorsese/DiCaprio collaborations I've seen (because of the director & in spite of the actor) this was outstanding.
Also want to thank R.O. for his comments on the 2-strip/3-strip technicolor look to the movie, which I would probably never have noticed on first viewing.
thanks, Holden, for heads-up on this one

You're welcome, mr6666. I'm glad you gave the movie a chance and that you enjoyed it.
I'm a big fan of Leonardo DiCaprio as an actor so I'm surprised when some people say that they avoid his movies.
I think perhaps they associate him with TITANIC, the big movie that made him a "star."
While I do enjoy TITANIC, DiCaprio's role in that movie is not a typical one for him.
He is one the few American movie actors who consistently takes chances with his movie work, rather than just turning in the "personality" performances that we get from most American movie actors.
And his film work has always been at this level, even back when he was still quite young.
Have you seen him in THIS BOY'S LIFE, which also stars Robert DeNiro as his stepfather?
I highly recommend this movie as an example of the fantastic early work of Leonardo DiCaprio.

BAD MOVIE ALERT: MAME

I agree with you on both counts.
I'll add Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy.
