It's not my favorite hairstyle-- however, I think Florence Henderson rocked the shag on "The Brady Bunch."
I liked her last season hairstyle better though, I thought she looked great with the shorter hair with the shag part cut off.
Did you know that Florence Henderson wore a wig for the first season of THE BRADY BUNCH?

I liked The Innocent. It would be nice if TCM showed it.
TCM should do a tribute to Visconti and include THE INNOCENT.

I wonder where TCM got the print with the Italian subtitles?

It's not Danielle DeMetz is it?

Lol. Was there ever an episode where someone from Bewitched journeyed to the ancient Roman Empire? Or maybe Aunt Clara conjuring up a Caesar in her attempts.to make a Caesar.Salad?
Actually there was an episode called "Samantha's Caesar Salad" where Esmeralda was trying to "pop up" a Caesar salad but accidentally zapped up Julius Caesar.

I Don't hate "Titanic"(1998)--I love the film and the score--thank you for posting.
I'm with you. I like both the movie TITANIC as well as James Horner's score.
Take that, haters.

Maybe someone at TCM's programming department will read this thread and provide the answer.

There was a score written (or at least some songs) back in the 50s. And I think Gloria even recorded a demo but Paramount wouldnt give the rights, so the project died on the vine........
Here's a clip of Gloria Swanson performing one of the songs from the proposed musical adaptation.
Her singing voice is good but the song itself is certainly no "With One Look" or "As If We Never Said Goodbye."

Sweet Charity starring Shirley Maclaine on DVD not on TCM. This movie should be shown again on TCM. It hasn't for awhile. Shirley was amazing both in her acting and musical skills.
SWEET CHARITY was shown recently as part of the Friday Night Spotlight on roadshow musicals, but I hope it is shown again soon.

periodically the episodes show up on YouTube, although they're often pulled. However anything is better than watching them truncated and hacked to death on TV Land (or their awful website which rarely works.)
I'm grateful to Nick At Nite and TVLand for introducing me to some great shows, but, yes, they cut out a lot to allow for more commercials.

Shirley Temple must be SOTM, and this is reflected in the latest chart, as her long and fruitful collaborations with Tor Johnson create much interest.
1. LITTLE MISS TORKER
2. SINCE TOR WENT AWAY
3. TWEE TORLLIE TORINKIE
4. THAT HAGEN TOR
5.
6. POOR LITTLE RICH TOR
7. TORAWAY
8. CURLY TOR
9. STAND UP AND TOR
10. ADVENTURE IN BALTITORE
10. SUSANNAH OF THE MOUNTORS
I just learned that Tor Johnson appeared as "Strong Man" on an episode of the TV series SHIRLEY TEMPLE'S STORYBOOK.

I know it's popular to hate on TITANIC, but I love James Horner's score for that movie.

I like the natural 1970s hair that is parted down the middle, bangs grown out, with the sides naturally making a wave, framing the face.
Don't forget this 1970s hairstyle which is kind of a combination shag and mullet with a flip.

12:15 a.m.--"The Great Locomotive Chase" (1956)--saw this on a re-release in the 70's. Good film
I'm happy to see that THE GREAT LOCOMOTIVE CHASE is now noted on the schedule as being in "widescreen."
When the July schedule first appeared, there was no such notation, which was troubling since the movie was shot in CinemaScope.
I was fearing another "Pan-and-Scan."

Not bad, Holden.
Hope you don't mind me saying how much it reminds me of the Barenaked Ladies song style.
Yes, there are definitely stylistic similarities.
Here's "The Big Bang Theory" by Barenaked Ladies.
(I also like the TV show.)

song by Courtney Barnett, "Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go To The Party"
Lyrics here: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/courtneybarnett/nobodyreallycaresifyoudontgototheparty.html
Thanks for posting this!
I recommend THE AVIATOR, which features Leonardo DiCaprio as Howard Hughes.

in all honesty, Anthony Harvey is one of the very few things I remember about CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA (the others are ernest thesiger in an "old auntie" caftan and flora robson as Cleopatra's devoted (and deadly)wild-eyed maid Tapatipa.)
Ps- ernest looks good in a caftan.
I've never had much interest in seeing CAESAR AND CLEOPATRA but now I am curious.
Ernest Thesiger's garb in the photo below looks like something Endora might have worn.

Good one, DGF.
What I've been finding with so much of today's "hits" and popular acts is such a lack of lyrics. Seems so much of the time the writer comes up with one line - maybe two - and it's just repeated over and over for 4 and a half minutes.
.
Generally I agree with your statement.
Here's an example of what I think is an exception: "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" from Panic! At The Disco
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0FI7prMDzA
The song has good lyrics, a great melody and a wonderfully enigmatic title.

The musical Mame hasn't been on Broadway since the original show closed. Bette Midler has toyed with doing it but she's too old now. Christine Baranski toured several years ago with an eye toward Broadway but her reviews were hideous and the show closed "out of town," as they used to say. Even Bernadette Peters is too old now even though she looks about 40.
Odd that even the play has never been revived on Broadway. As for remaking Auntie Mame as a film, they'd ruin it by "updating" the story, and the story wouldn't work in modern times. Even the musical version (at least in the film) updated the Connecticut school next to the Upsons from one for Jewish refugees to one for unwed mothers.... to no effect.
The key to Mame's comic character is that we see her as a madcap, but she sees herself as a perfectly normal personal and not as an eccentric at all. That's why she's funny. If you play Mame as a clown, you lose the real humor and the warmth her character exudes.
At point in the early 2000s Rob Marshall was going to direct MAME for television with Cher in the lead, but the project ultimately fell through.

me reading this post:
(sees first picture)
"I dunno, I kind of like that, it's a pretty clever design...."
(scrolls down to second picture)
"AAAAAGH!!!!!! DEMON! BURN IT! SEND IT BACK TO HELL!"
Yeah, I agree that the design with Elizabeth Montgomery on a broom with the crescent moon in the background in clever, but the representation of her face is not very flattering.

Wednesday, July 1
5:45 p.m. Young Bess (1953) I’ve always wanted to see this Jean Simmons film.
YOUNG BESS is an entertaining movie.
Charles Laughton reprises the role of Henry VIII (which he'd played 20 years earlier in THE PRIVATE LIFE OF HENRY VIII).

Ah, yes, here's the infamous Danielle DeMetz/Audrey Dalton debate.
