At the end of the Essex Street Pedestrian Mall in Salem, MA, is six-foot-tall bronze statue of Elizabeth Montgomery. The statue was sponsored by cable channel TV Land and commemorates the 60s-era sit-com Bewitched, in which Montgomery played a witch named Samantha who tries to live a normal married life with her non-warlock husband. Unveiled in 2005, the six-foot-tall statue depicts Montgomery astride a broom and flying in front of a crescent moon. The statue is more relevant than just the fact that it matches the theme of the town. In 1970, Bewitched filmed a series of episodes on location there after a fire shut down its Hollywood set. The episodes have come to be known as the Salem Saga and featured many of the landmarks of the city. The arrangement ended up being a great tourist boon for the city, helping to elevate awareness of the historical location. I love the Salem Saga episodes of BEWITCHED!

HITS & MISSES: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow on TCM

I'm looking forward to seeing Max Von Sydow in THE FORCE AWAKENS anyway, but I think it would be a nice touch if he plays an established character like Boba Fett. I'm still hoping that Adam Driver's character Kylo Ren will be the son of Princess Leia and Han Solo and thus the grandson of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. -
I don't think the statue of Elizabeth Montgomery in Salem MA is very flattering either.

HITS & MISSES: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow on TCM

According to the source of the rumor, Boba Fett's appearance was altered by "cybernetic modifications" necessary after the injuries he suffered from his encounter with the Sarlaac in RETURN OF THE JEDI. Jeremy Bulloch's face was never revealed in either THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK or RETURN OF THE JEDI since Boba Fett was always wearing his signature armor in those movies. In the prequel ATTACK OF THE CLONES, it was revealed that Boba Fett was a clone of Jango Fett. Therefore, the adult Boba (without "modifications") would look exactly like his "father" Jango (who was played by Temuera Morrison in ATTACK OF THE CLONES). -

While I like Carol Lynley, I want to see BLUE DENIM primarily for Brandon deWilde. Thank you for the inforrmation on THE YOUNG REBELS episode he appeared in. I'd never heard of that series, but I am definitely going to look for that episode.. -
And often they were sent back in time due to some spell gone wrong.

Anyone catch the TCM programing "Glitch" last night?

I would be curious to hear about the formatting of the DVD release. When BRAINSTORM aired last week on TCM Ben Mankiewicz did explain in his introductory comments Trumbull's use of Super Panavision for the virtual reality sequences (experienced through the scientists' device) and 35 mm for the "real world." There was no commentary when the movie aired as a last minute replacement for NOTHING LASTS FOREVER. -
Edgar Wright was one of the best guest programmers TCM has ever had. His commentary went beyond the typical superficial remarks and I liked all his choices except for SUPER COPS.

My mother, aunt and even my grandmother used to workout to some of Jane Fonda's workouts. My aunt especially really got into them. Some of the workouts were pretty intense. I thought Jane Fonda suffered from bulimia before the workout era.

Although Max Von Sydow's role in the upcoming STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS has not been officially revealed, it is currently rumored that he will be playing Boba Fett. George Lucas has said that Boba Fett did not die in the Sarlaac pit, into which he fell in RETURN OF THE JEDI. -
The version that aired on TCM recently definitely showed the "items in questions" very clearly during the opening credit sequence. The shots were brief, but there was one that lingered on a n-i-p-p-p-l-e for a few seconds.

I believe the deleted scene featuring the Doris/Tor "Secret Love" duet is one of the bonus features on the upcoming Bluray release of CALAMITOR JANE.

Bruce Lee was only around 5'6" (athough he stated he was 5'8") and around 145 lbs, but was pretty much "all muscle" and is a very powerful prescence on screen.

Someone posted on these boards (and I haven't been able to find the post) that he imagined seeing Jane Fonda's b-r-e-a-s-t-s during the opening of BARBARELLA when he first saw the movie as a kid. I've just watched the opening of BARBARELLA for the first time (DVRed it from TCM) and there are definitely a few shots of her b-r-e-a-s-t-s. Perhaps they are the b-r-e-a-s-t-s of her body double, but based on the shots (there's a shot with her brushing her hair from her face with her hand) they appear to be her own.

Screenwriter Gore Vidal's comments about the gay subtext in Ben-TOR are very interesting. Apparently Vidal and director William Wyler kept Charlton Heston out of the loop regarding the gay backstory. Tor Johnson, on the other hand, was privy to to the information and plays the "secret love" angle to the hilt.

Stephan55, it's not your bad. You were correct. SUNSET BLVD is shown very rarely on TCM.

Of course, # 1 would be missing, wouldn't it? Noooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Movie Performances By Child Actors

Yes, Bobby Henrey was fantastic in THE FALLEN IDOL. Carol Reed was able to get that amazing performance from Henrey, who according to most accounts had no talent for acting. -

You were right. The restored version did not air. -
Here's what Endora said about where witches live: "We are quicksilver, a fleeting shadow, a distant sound... our home has no boundaries beyond which we cannot pass. We live in music, in a flash of color... we live on the wind and in the sparkle of a star!"

Is the movie really in black-and-white?
-
I am very much looking forward to this movie.

Films That Were Controversial For Their Time

In the original play BLUE DENIM the girl actually has the (then illegal) abortion while in the movie adaptation she does not.
