My nephew does a good imitation of Charlie Brown saying "I got a rock" from the Halloween show. -

This morning (06/23/14) TCM aired THE SEARCH. I get drawn into this movie very easily especially Ivan Jandl's performance. -

You really don't realize how much is edited from syndicated television shows until you see the complete episodes as they aired during their original broadcast runs. When watching my BEWITCHED and THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW episodes on DVD I am amazed at how much great stuff was cut to make room for more commercials on Nick at Nite. -
OK, I've had it with the frigging SPAM !

Is GO ASK ALICE based on the book by the same name? The book was supposedly the diary or journal of a girl but it was later exposed as a work of fiction. -
I didn't miss it this time.

I think L'ECLISSE has aired before --- or least has been on the schedule before. I think I remember seeing it on the schedule and was upset that I missed it.

The Mystery Surrounding the "Alternate" Ending of LAURA

I've never seen many episodes of the BATMAN series, but I do remember seeing a video clip with Mr. Freeze with a German accent and I thought I recalled that it was stated on the commentary that it was Otto Preminger. I'm glad you confirmed it. I had no idea there were three different Mr. Freezes in the series. -
It's interesting that neitrher Marlo or Phil ever sued Desmond for libel. I wonder if his name was still on the "call ist" when the book came out.

I know it's been said before. but it's Sally Field, not Sally Fields.

Didn't Otto Preminger play Mr. Freeze on that campy BATMAN series from the 1960s? -

It was interesting to learn that Otto Preminger was the father of Gyspy Rose Lee's son. -

The ambivalence of DODSWORTH is one of the most powerful things about the movie. It has a very precode feel to it. -
Where is the "Upcoming Classic 20th Century Fox films" thread?

Do I see BLUE DENIM? I really hope I have this channel. -
I posted this song before in another thread. (I didn't realize that this Favorite Music thread existed until recently. ) "Morning Please Don't Come" is a duet between Dusty Springfield and her brother Tom Springfield (aka Dion O'Brien). The song was written by Tom Springfield. Dusty is one of my favorite singers of all-time. I love this song and its sentiment.

September 2015 SCHEDULE NOW AVAILABLE

I see that THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK is scheduled to air on September 29. This movie wasn't included as part of the tribute to Shelley Winters on her Summer Under The Stars day. I wish that Susan Strasberg (who originated the role on Broadway) had played Anne Frank in the movie adaptation. Millie Perkins (in my opinion) is not very good in the role. -
SUNSET BLVD is airing on TCM as an Essential on December 5. It's a been quite awhile since this movie has aired on TCM. I think it was last aired as part of the Essentials when Alec Baldwin was the co-host.

Does Ernest Borgnine offer any incite in his book as to what drew him and Ethel Merman together to the point that they actually married?

I wonder if TCM will be airing George Lucas's director's cut of THX1138 from 2004. -
Eli Wallach was a brilliant actor. Like his wife Anne Jackson, he preferred working on stage than in movies, often turning down film offers in favor of more satisfying stage work (even if it was for less money). He said that movies were like "calendar art" compared to the "great paintings" of stage work. I am grateful that he did so some film work so that his brillaince is available for us to see today.

I see that SEARCH FOR BEAUTY is scheduled to air on TCM tomorrow (06/20/15) at 8:30 AM Eastern.

Yes indeed. TCM has been showing LAURA quite a lot after years of never showing it.

It's a testament to Ruth Chatterton that the audience is still able to feel some sympathy for Fran when Kurt's mother refuses to accept her as a future wife for her son. The sympathy, of course, is mixed with some feeling that Fran is getting what she deserves.
