You're right. In the three shot of Montgomery Clift, Clark Gable and Eli Wallach we can see the effect that Marilyn Monroe is having on each of the three men. Three shots are used very rarely in movies.

Does Ernest Borgnine discuss his marriage to Ethel Merman in his book? I presume he doesn't do the blank page thing like she did.

I've only seen Yves Montand in GOODBYE AGAIN and ON A CLEAR DAY YOU SEE FOREVER. I liked him in both movies. In ON A CLEAR DAY YOU SEE FOREVER, the part where he sings "Come Back To Me," trying to get Barbra Streisand to, well, come back via telepathy always cracks me up ---- the way his voice emanates from various people (and even a dog!) that Streisand encounters in NYC.

I don't remember if they were twins or just sisters in the version from the 1990s.

The woman with the binoculars is named Jean. She's played by Gertrude Michael.

Who Are These Mysterious People?

When the new boards were announced (just before the old version of the new boards went down for the upgrade) the name of the company operating and maintaining the new boards was given. I don't recall the name, but maybe it's avaialble somewhere on the boards. I presume the moderators work for that company either as employees or contractors. -

Yes, the September 2015 schedule is now available online. The Star of the Month is indeed Susan Hayward. VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is scheduled to air on September 24. Here are the links to the weekly schedules: http://www.tcm.com/schedule/weekly.html?tz=CST&sdate=2015-09-01 http://www.tcm.com/schedule/weekly.html?tz=CST&sdate=2015-09-08 http://www.tcm.com/schedule/weekly.html?tz=CST&sdate=2015-09-15 http://www.tcm.com/schedule/weekly.html?tz=CST&sdate=2015-09-22 http://www.tcm.com/schedule/weekly.html?tz=CST&sdate=2015-09-29 On September 25 there's a tribute to James Dean's television legacy. A tribute to Sidney Lumet is scheduled for September 14. RUNNING ON EMPTY is scheduled as part of the tribute. Hopefully the print aired this time will not have audios drops when the expletives are spoken. THE VERDICT is also scheduled. A tribute to Jean-Luc Godard is scheduled for September 16. -
Yes, his name is indeed Desmond. (I was going to post that connection at some point.) Or should I say "DESMOND!!!!!"

DOWN TO THE SEA IN SHIPS also features one my favorite actors Dean Stockwell. I need to watch it again and pay more attention to Dorothy Adams. Thanks for this information. -
I've never read the book that the A KISS BEFORE DYING movies were based on. In the movie from the 1990s Sean Young played both sisters.

I watched THE LEGEND OF LIZZIE BORDEN on You Tube. Lizzie's father should have left those birds alone. -
Yes, It's How Many Ways Can We Torture Lassie Day on TCM!

Was Lassie EVER played by a female dog? -
The scene in SEARCH FOR BEAUTY where the woman lowers her binoculars to the crotch of Buster Crabbe in his tight swimsuit and says "Come to mama!" is like something out of a sex comedy of today.

Is it true that Lassie was actually played by a male dog in all the movies or was that just a myth? -
By the way, here's a vole. (I had to look it up.)

The Mystery Surrounding the "Alternate" Ending of LAURA

I know she's not Mercedes McCambridge, but the actor who plays Bessie reminds me of her. -
I wish TCM would air TOM BROWN'S SCHOOLDAYS (1951) or TOM BROWN'S SCHOOL DAYS (1940). There's a TCM article fior the 1940 movie (which features Freddie Bartholomew) so it must have aired at least once on the channel.

I second that. -
Yes, Kim Basinger was very good in MY STEPMOTHER IS AN ALIEN. She was also good as Eminem's mother in 8 MILE.

It's interesting that Desmond says he wasn't familiar with Marlo Thomas before he started working with her while he was aware of Phil Donahue. Desmond knew there was a famous florist in the NYC area named Marlo so he though perhaps "Marlo Thomas" was the Marlo from Flowers By Marlo. He says THAT GIRL to his knowledge did not air in the UK (where he grew up).

Thanks for this information about THE MIND OF OF MR. SOAMES.

For me the performance from DODSWORTH that is the most powerful is Ruth Chatterton's.
