  1. This reminds me of the xplanation of the meaning of "enervating" by Barbra Streisand's character in THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT.
  2. PSYCHO was the first mainstream movie to show a toilet. It not only showed a toilet but (GASP!) also showed it being flushed.
  3. Yes, Geraldine Page is the best example of the power of American acting based on Stanislavski's techniques (commonly referred to as "method" acting). Her work is more consistently better than even that of Marlon Brando. Someone so brilliantly creative as Brando needed better material than Hollywood often gave him. It's not surprising that Brando became very bored later in his career.
  4. Thanks to both Swithin and Bogie for posting this very interesting article. I'm still looking forward to Swithin's comments.
  5. I'd be curious to see Irene Ryan in a non-Granny role.
  6. I think I saw HOT SPELL on the schedule recently. I left the room for a moment and when I returned there was no sign of the movie whatsoever ---- as if it were never there! I think some Tor Johnson movie was in its place.
  7. Yes, it's interesting to watch the early Simpsons shorts from THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW.
  8. I think this is the one that Orson Welles's daughter likes because he used his own nose.
  9. Yes, I'm very much looking forward to Alan Arkin's day. I've been wanting to see LITTLE MURDERS for awhile. Alan Arkin directed the movie as well as acted in it. The cast also includes Elliott Gould, Vincent Gardenia and Donald Sutherland. The movie is adapted from the play by Jules Feiffer which lasted for only 7 performances on Broadway but was later successfully produced in London. I love those American movies from the early 1970s.
  10. I wasn't familiar with Charles Drake so I checked to see if he resembled Ronald Reagan.
  11. I haven't watched all of THE STAR yet but I did watch the part about the screen test., which was the part that I remember most about the movie from the time I saw it years ago. I think Bette Davis's reaction to seeing the footage was done very well. There are only a few cuts to the footage so most of the reaction is conveyed on Bette Davis's face.
  12. I stil can't get that piano note from that movie out of my mind.
  13. Were the maids also buried in the garden?
  14. I had no idea.He seemed to have zero charisma in those Subway commercials.
  15. I actually liked the first two seasons of MAMA'S FAMILY . (The first season was actually only a half season.) The character of Mama was supposed to be a very mean-spirited woman but by having her as the central character of the series the writers apparently felt that she had be made more likeable so she became just sassy rather than mean. The later seasons (with the addition of Bubba) actually did better in the ratings than the first two seasons.
  16. Douglas Fairbanks, Jr is an actor that I discovered through TCM. He was actually once married to Joan Crawford.
