I wonder if Preston ended up with long nails and eating banana by the dozen?

Now did you have to add "raging" to that pejorative, Fedya? Would you say some of the men here are "raging heterosexuals"?

A movie about a most famous patient of Freud
CaveGirl replied to dan.neumann's topic in General Discussions
Outta sight outta hand, as the One-Armed Man used to say. I think you should use a patient of Doctor Julia Hoffman for the movie script. That would have vampires and lots of shadow play. -
Uh, you forgot the famous actor from "The Big Valley"...Richard Long!!!

They censored me when I told that joke about ****-sided Christmas trees in Italy. I wonder if it will be censored again. Here'a a new joke I heard on the Golden Girls show: What's Irish and stays out all night [it works better verbally than in print]? Patio Furniture! Get it? If one person here asks me to explain that, they are going to be permanent persona non grata in my milieu. My censored word has three letters and not four like the asterisks are indicating.

That's Mister Peabody to you, Dargo! Freud would say that you are using a cover memory that obscures the real reason for your post. Or that you have phallic envy due to the many "phallacies" you post? -
I believe that there are conflicting reports that the body was in a body bag, when it arrived at Bethesda. I could go into detail but suffice it to say that the conflict is between official government agents who support the Warren Commission and subjects who don't, but seem to have no axe to grind. The Jacqueline Kennedy argument, about her being the motivator behind JFK's body being taken back immediately out of Dallas, does not seem to be supported by on the scene reportage of the agent's attempts to countermand the Dallas coroner and the law. Jackie was mostly just a bystander in all this melee sadly. Of course each of us is allowed to our own belief about this and I respect your opinion, Vautrin.

What a wonderfully honest and heartwarming post full of truth, justice and the American way, Laffite. Also I live to post "cryptic" thoughts to confound the vox populi, and you have made life worth living again by appreciating such anti-social behaviour.. I forgot to mention I also post here in an attempt to undermine the status quo in any group that exists in our democracy. Excuse me while I finish my wine cooler now.

I had heard you served a "short sentence" once for indecent exposure, Down but this bit about you being "King" is all news to me. Regardless or irregardless, you are a man of few words and I enjoy most of them. Thanks for your remarks.

Okay, we've had the very heartfelt and politically correct posts concerning why we all come here to the TCM Message Board. But now let's get real and tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I admit, I lied. The real reasons I come here are as follows: 1] To see what Dargo has posted 2] To start up fights about the Kennedy Assassination 3] I want to get out of macrame class here at the center 4] I am a glutton for punishment 5] I have no friends or even a dog to occupy my time 6] They shorten one's sentence for good behaviour on the internet Your turn. Don't lie this time!

Did the guy you are talking about look and act like an old coot, and looked a bit like Ian Wolfe? I still say Karger needs to have that smile surgically removed!

Yes, Lawrence it would be much more acceptable to change the life story of Herbert Khaury than any of Siggy's patients. One could make the marriage with Miss Vicky work out better and they all live happily ever after with Tulip. You are definitely in the right thread by the way. -
"p***ing"? Please fill in the blanking asterisks, Down.

Changing the real details of the life of a patient of Freud's seems ill advised. Why not do something on the Wolf Man or Anna O? -
Well, I am sorry if I started a firestorm here over the Kennedy Assassination, but I actually did relish reading both points of view from you, Bogie and Vautrin. One of the reasons I am more aligned to the side which does not believe in the single assassin theory, has to do with information in the Warren Report which mentions doctors at Bethesda removing the brain of Kennedy, in a simple lifting out of the object. The inference was that the brain had already been in a state of removal since it is no easy task to just disengage the cranium from its moorings. Since the Parkland doctors had not done any such thing in their time with Kennedy's body, then this carving out of the brain from its surroundings must have occurred at some time between Dallas and the Bethesda landing. Also it has been ascertained that the body of Kennedy was covered in two different ways as if wrapped at one location in sheeting and at the other location in a body bag. How does this occur if there is not some kind of intervention between leaving Parkland Hospital and arriving at Bethesda? There are many other examples of things that don't add up, that are detailed unwittingly in the Warren Commission report, and though I cannot say with certainty that I know what happened, I can say with certainty that those saying they do, are a bit delusional, like Posner and Bill O'Reilly, Bogie.

I think he just was a guy who had to age a bit before Hollywood realized what had been before them all those years. He was never flashy and sometimes that type gets ignored for a while, but he came out of his shell as Jock Ewing and the rest is history. Loved your post by the way!

I bought that on dvd years ago just to see Acquanetta, but of course Maria Montez is out of this world too. I read that she used to sit in front of her mirror and say "Oh, I am so beautiful!" Can't say I disagree. Great review by the way!

Were you doing the jittering or was it the channel??? It is one of the best comedies ever made. Makes one wonder what happened with Preston Sturges after his run of so many successful films then so little after he hooked up with Howard Hughes. Due to the jitters, which were not on my tv screen that means you missed Geraldine meeting the Wienie King in the bathtub, her dancing with members of the Ale and Quail Club, her clothes buying spree with Snoodles and his serenading her under her balcony, Mr. McGlue's dancing with Princess Mary Astor and her digs to Toto, the airport deal and then the revelation of extra embryos which solved all the romantic problems. Too bad you missed all that!

I love revenge movies! Also ones with crimes of passion. Great topic, so let's see I think I will recommend a famous but definitely rather drive-in B-movie, called "I Spit on Your Grave" with Camille Keaton. I think it is from the late 1970's. It would be good on a double bill with "God Told Me To" which I know TCM has played already. They could call it TCM Drive-In Nite!

Oh, boy! I can't wait since I love James Agee. I can still remember the scene in his probably most famous novel, about the warmth left in the bed by someone soon to be vanquished sadly. A great writer and critic and I feel lucky to be alive to read your column, TB!

Of course, I would always ignore someone like that even in the outside world. I once got on a movie website, and posted a critique of some man's remarks and then was blasted to the outer limits for daring to question anything he wrote. You see, being new I did not know he was a supposedly "famous" author of sci-fi compendiums. His sycophants all took me to task for saying he was incorrect about something. I was also called I think a "flaming troll" since apparently the idea that someone could just wander onto a movie message board for the first time, and notice a mistake and comment on it was beyond their comprehension. I was told that he was an expert and for that reason I must be the one who was wrong. Since I had a book which had the quote he had misappropriated, all I did was give the title, the publisher, the author and the page and line number to validate things. The sycophants rallied around the wagon train and went off happily into the internet sunset, never checking his source or admitting that he had been wrong. I thought the whole affair was quite amusing and later used to see him interviewed on tv documentaries about sci-fi and horror films. His books are still selling and his fact checking skills are still in question but I bet he does know how to stay on topic!
-
TGD, are you serious? You really had someone tell you to "stay on topic"? I'm flabbergasted. Are you sure they didn't tell you to "say ectopic" since maybe they were the result of that kind of pregnancy and had some brain damage? Really now, the limits of gall are often exceeded by annoying posters who think they are kings and rule the world. I'm glad you stayed!

As a woman, I can go to town on this trio! Mark Stevens- For me, good looking but yes a bit sexless. Montgomery Clift- Again, for me, early Clift is quite appealing even knowing he is gay, but trust me I would not take him on as a challenge. Jim Davis- Early, middle or late Davis was extremely attractive and very sexually alluring in a quiet way. Just ask Miss Ellie! I bet he'd be even more attractive wearing Rayban sunglasses.

Aw, he's adorable! The voice might kill any passion though...

Uh, GPF reading your reasons for being here makes me wonder what reasons would make people stay away from here. I think I will do that as an alternative post. I need to read the 20th Century Vole post more to see the humor unfold. A famous comedian once said "Never explain when you are kidding or being sarcastic." If he were alive today I think he would ban also all smiley face clues on message boards since what is the fun of having to explain all one's jokes.
