Was just reading about "Seven Men from Now" in my Western encyclopedia book last nite, Kingrat!
-
Well, you've done it again, Pardner! Took the title right out of my mouth. That scene with the flaming Mercedes is so rad!
-
Warlock! Great choice, Laffite.
-
I've not seen that, Lawrence but due to the respect I have for your opinion and film savvy, I shall definitely look for it!
-
All good ones and I dig Monte Hellman flicks, FL!
-
A very fine list, Sepia!
-
What did you learn from watching this movie multiple times, Nip? I've never watched it, but I did read the book it was ripped off from, a few times in Catholic school.
-
"Vertigo". Like twenty, thirty or more times. I can unreel the movie scene to scene in my mind. I have no idea why. I just feel like watching it occasionally.
-
Occasionally that very longstanding profession, some call the oldest is looked upon with scorn and derision, Lawrence. I'll let you guess it, but I will say playing it onscreen often results in receiving many acting accolades!
-
Herbert Beerbohm Tree?
-
My favorite Mike Nelson episodes are Crime at Sea, Skipper, P.T. Boat and Roustabout. But my Mike Nelson is the scuba diver on "Sea Hunt". Thanks, Lorna!
-
I saw it so long ago that I totally forgot about the postcard plot. I watched and was a bit surprised by the rape redemption stuff. Still it was good to see Ryan and Steiger work off each other.
-
How am I going to say how "humorous" you are, Dargo if I have to give up the "u"s? Oh, you said sperflos, I mean "superfluous" ones. Never mind!
-
While watching some westerns recently I got to thinking about the ones which delve more into character and deeper issues, like "One-Eyed Jacks" and the like. I like both the typical genre types and also the westerns with a bit more insights into human nature like last night's "The Naked Spur". Which do you prefer or are you fans of both types?

"perhaps our ideas of comedy differ so violently we should keep at least a block away from each other at any film festival. Seems like a pretty extreme reaction." Thanks for proving in your assessment above of my statement, that ideas of what is comedic is definitely subjective, TS! And yes, Connie did always say to us that Joe was much more "star" material than Martin/Ramon.

Let's go have a drink on that to discuss the semantic issues inherent in any discussion about MST3000, Dargo. I'd go now for brunch but I'm still recovering from some bad liquor from last nite.

W.C. Fields wanted to put a pool scene in "David Copperfield" saying Dickens probably forgot to put it in the book and that it would add flavor to the film. Mister Micawber was denied his wish to the film's detriment!
-
Thanks, Limey! P.S. But where are the "O"s?
-
Nah! I can never get enough Merman, as I think she is fab and a scream in "It's a Mad [x three] World". Those scenes with her and Dick Shawn and the girdle bit are hilarious!
-
But can YOU do the Wahtusi? I am sure there are some people here who are proficient at doing the Jerk. I see you more as a Mashed Potato Man, Down with lots of butter!

For those here who revere Robert Ryan, you might enjoy seeing his appearance on the tv show, "What's My Line" from October, 1962. He was on the show with his Broadway co-star, Nanette Fabray as the Mystery Guests with the usual suspects on the panel of Bennett Cerf, Arlene Francis, the annoying Dorothy Kilgallen and guest panelist, Harry Belafonte. I noticed Ryan has very very interesting handwriting. Check it out: Oh, postscript time! Just found another "WML" episode with Ryan as a panelist from May 11, 1958 to advertise his film "God's Little Acre". Check this one out too:

Uh, Tiki even though I've been to Rochester and know what they are capable of, my post about Cherkasov was meant as a joke. No one has things like the sixteen minutes of burnt footage from "Ivan the Terrible, Part III that the Soviets destroyed, so I'm not holding my breath for duplicate footage to be unearthed. I will have to survive by watching the four remaining minutes that survived that are contained in the box set of Eisenstein films that I own. The screen test footage of Cherkasov is amazing though, so I shall be content with that. Of course there's always hope that Niky's film "Pyotr Pervy" shows up someday soon.

No, I think you "missed" the real "point" of my post, because if you think saying "Don't French the Reaper" is funny, said even when there is no dialogue to talk over, perhaps our ideas of comedy differ so violently we should keep at least a block away from each other at any film festival. I don't need my comedy force fed to me by those with a low humor quotient. Now Will Ferrell playing "Don't Fear the Reaper" with Christoper Walken saying he will be wearing gold diapers and that the whole shebang needs more cowbell, that IS funny. By the way, Joe Estevez's sister, Connie always said he was the real "star" in the family.

Margo AND Ethel Merman in one week? That's scary. Poor Margo had that awful tumor that she was saddled with for years, which really derailed any appearances in films in her later years. Good think she had Eddie to bring home the bacon!

I've never understood the triple X's in this title but all Ryan fans should watch as this film is wacky! I think mystery writer Sue Grafton wrote the novel it was based on.
