Name a movie with such culinary affectations, besidesm of course "Babette's Feast"?

That's all well and good, Vautrin but who is playing Nancy Spungen?
I vote for Lady Gaga! -
Andrews' biographer visited the Silver Screen Oasis two or three years ago. He said Webb was very interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with Andrews during the filming of LAURA. Of course, Andrews turned him down.

Well, she probably was more into the Jack Kennedy look doncha think being that she liked him and of course Oleg Cassini?
This is interesting since I thought Webb was, um...gay?
Maybe I am "cornfused", as Fred Mertz might say.

Running the gamut from "Bucket of Blood" to "La Ronde" is just my kind of schedule.
Excuse me whilst I go find some body parts out by the railroad that I can dip in cement for my next artistic and sculptural creation.
-
For all the reasons you mention. Eric Blore is wonderful, Edward Everett Horton and Helen Broderick are so amusing and then there's that black eye issue, and Hermes Pan was also involved with Fred in the staging of numbers I think.

Sorry...not showing my age with the comment.
I wrote that comment because Frazier says he spends lots of time posting on a computer at a public library. If he went off to join another group, it might limit his time at the library.

TB, I heard that DGF lost his library privileges due to pulling up some rather, shall we say, unsavory sites with exposed flesh showing.
Nuff said!

I'm just reminding you that tomorrow TCM is showing the wonderful Terrence Malick film, "Days of Heaven". Truly, it is breathtaking and if you can't get up that early at least record it.
You will not be disappointed.

"Teeth to boot"? Does that mean they are supposed to get their teeth kicked in?
Of course not, Silly Boy!
It means they are not long in the tooth like some women of antediluvian appearance.
Speaking of boots though, we would expect you to wear a boutonniere with your Speedos, as you serve the libation.

It's been many years since I dated a paperboy in an attempt to "Get a Life" so I am a bit flummoxed.

I was at one of Perry Como's early shows, and he bit the head off a bat before slicing his own chest open with a broken beer bottle. Good times.
Ya know, Lawrence there is actually a bit of harmonic convergence in the fact that Eugene Levy portrayed both Floyd from Mayberry and Perry Como on SCTV, since Perry started off his professional life as a barber also.
Word on the street was, that Perry did not find Levy's takeoff funny at all.
It could be because Levy did part of the singing, lying on the stage floor showing how relaxed Perry was in performance.
Hilarious!

Take a little more time with it, dude. You'll be required to "service" lots of unattractive women - are you up for that?
Okay, I lied, DGF.
The group is not really composed of Freemasonry chicks, only a bunch of ex-cheerleaders that I hang out with named Suzy, Jana, Heather, and Carla.
I think DGF would find them all very attractive, since they've maintained quite well and still have all their teeth to boot!
Jana by the way looks a lot like Carmen Electra in her prime.

In Eagels' case, she probably was on a drug trip.
She looks skeletal and almost cadaverous in The Letter, and there's something about this I find immensely compelling.
I was gonna say she did look a bit "heroin chic" in the film, but thought better of it.

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane. Ain't got time to take a fast train. Lonely days are gone. I'm comin' home. My baby....errr...sorry, CG.
Got carried away there for a second, didn't I.
(...yeah, I've seen both versions, and yeah, I absolutely agree with your thoughts here...the original early sound version is much more static and stagebound but is still worth watching)
I knew it!
Dargo, just like Eddie and the Cruisers, Alex Chilton of the Box Tops is NOT really dead.
You are he, and just taking a breather in seclusion from your fans and your rocker days, right?

Count Floyd will now host TCM Underground.
Johnny LaRue will host TCM Imports.
Bobby Bittman and Sammy Maudlin will host The Essentials.
Hey, Hoser!
How could you forget the McKenzie brothers???
P.S. My favorite moments from SCTV include Eugene Levy as Floyd the barber from Mayberry and as Perry Como, singing comatose in a K-Tel like album commercial.

Revolt! Take over the channel & rename it as Totally Canadian Movies.
Speaking of Canada and its superstars, word is that Edith Prickley and Lola Falana will be the next Guest Programmers on TCM in March.
I can only hope this is true!

Lawrence, I don't think that much, if anything, was lost in the transition from stage to screen. I'm with you 100% on your description of the film, but the energy of the actors on stage would be the only plus for the original. The play is rather shallow and its cynicism easy, and the Martin Sheen character is a kind of alcoholic I have never met in real life, the truth-telling alcoholic who drinks because he's the only one who sees the truth (Claire in Albee's A DELICATE BALANCE is the same character in female form). The acting in the film is good, and that's the best thing it has going for it.
Speaking of "A Delicate Balance" I sure do wish TCM would show it. What a great play it is!

Guess you haven't heard the latest rumor about this Spike Lee "Some Like It Hot" thing, eh CG?!
Cedric the Entertainer is out for the Osgood role.
(...and now that Cosby is in, they're workin' on a slight rewrite as to how the Osgood character "seduces" the Jerry/Daphne character)
Dargo, I can only hope that Spike does not insist on shooting a scene at the Hotel Del Coronado, with Bill as Osgood trying to give Daphne an audition in his hotel room.
At least when Joe E. Brown went after a woman he did give them a really nice diamond bracelet or such!

I love this film too, TB. I think its oh so atmospheric qualities are what attract me, and I would ascribe part of that to the cinematography of noted cameraman, Joseph Valentine. He also worked on Hitchcock's "Shadow of a Doubt", "Rope" and "Saboteur". Plus the incredible cast is fab and the work of Curt Siodmak makes it so worthwhile.
And I love hearing Claude Rains pronounce the name Larry!

Since I have the "tragic weakness" as Waldo might say in hoping that "a lean strong body is the measure of a man" I will probably be watching on February 16th, TB!.
Hopefully I won't "get hurt".

My heart goes out to anyone who had to play opposite Tommy Kelly.
I can't watch his films since I am a diabetic*.
Happy Birthday, Ann!
*Just kidding, stole that from Oscar Levant.

I'd like to join TCM's Inner Circle but while in protective custody I've been informed it would not be a wise decision.
Boo hoo!

One of my many nephews was over visiting last night. He dropped in while we were watching "Gold Diggers of 1933". Since he's just into his 40's, and had also seen several times and likes the movie GREASE, I pointed out Joan Blondell when she popped up in a scene and asked him if she looked familiar to him.
She didn't, really....
But when I mentioned she was the same actress who was the waitress in the malt shop in "Grease", he saw it then! Like some sort of epiphany! So then he said, "I'll have to start watching some of these old movies now to see if I notice anyone ELSE!"
Whatever works, I guess. He WAS one of those who always thought any movie over three years old as TOO old, and not worth the time.
Who knows? Perhaps, in SPITE of himself, he might wind up liking many of them!
We CAN hold out hope.....

Sepiatone
A harbinger of hope in a sea of despair?
Good work, Sepia!

I hope sincerely that this is not just a rumor as I was so looking forward to the highly touted remake of "Some Like It Hot" as directed by Spike Lee.
As Spike says, it is about time that black actors get to play women musicians on screen, and why is it that only white bread folk like Tony and Jack get such chances in Hollywood.
The cast will include Kanye West in the Joe/Josephine role, Drake in the Jerry/Daphne[?] part, Cedric the Entertainer as Osgood Fielding III, with Eddie Murphy as Mama Fielding [never shown sadly in the Billy Wilder version], Anthony Anderson as "Antoine" Spats Columbo and most importantly, Lil'* Kim as Sugar Kane Kowalski [or whatever her name was].
The Saint Valentine's Day Massacre might be changed to something more relevant to the cast like the Watts riots or O.J.'s highway chase scene.
Oh, forgot to say that the title is being changed also to "Some Hotties Like It!".
*Sorry for the incorrectly placed apostrophe.

I think the Inner Circle should join me.
My Ladies Only Jubela Jubelo Jubelum Book Club is looking to invite a few males into our circle, DGF for a little diversity and pulchritude, and to serve as occasional waiters at our events.
Interested?
I can put in a good word for you...
