  1. I'd like a movie based on the Filipino Manilamen (some Mexicans were included) who settled in Louisiana in the late 1700s and have descendants to this day. In Harper's Weekly 1883 writer, Lafcadio Hearn noted: Although rice is the Filipino staple food, Manila Men rarely ate rice and their diet usually revolve around seafood. All of them are Roman Catholic. Since the area is so remote at that time, Manila Men have set their own rules and laws that inhabitants of settlement have to obey. The oldest person in the community is the one who settles a dispute or mediate a certain disagreement. If a person refused a verdict then he is jailed in a makeshift cell. At the end of the day, the offender would change his mind and obey the rule since the jail's condition is harsh. 2. *Coffy* is one of the finest films I've ever seen. Yes, I'm serious. I liked *Lili* very much. *Rebecca* too.
  3. There are beloved actors who don't knock my socks off but we have our own tastes and I wouldn't begrudge an actor who I "don't get the appeal" to be denied a star of the month or some other special spotlight. It's not like we're asking Toby Wing to be star of the month.
  4. *James Stewart* but not the one in Destry Rides Again. The James Stewart who was married to Jean Simmons.
  5. Last names and nicknames are fine with me. *Carrie* -- either Jennifer Jones or Sissy Spacek. I like both.
  6. The Count of Monte Cristo. Monte Cristo is a delicious sandwich in case you don't know.
  7. Odd I am not seeing the pencil. Thank you for your help tough. I won't delete the naughty names though unless I'm directed to some rules or such. So I've returned a few seconds later. This post has a pencil but not my original post. Maybe the pencil icon disappears after a certain amount of time.
  8. So Harlow, do you think her star of the month will be happening within a year for Sullavan? Please mention The Good Fairy in your correspondence. Please
  9. Why the dislike for Margaret? I would like both Margaret Sullavan and Susan Hayward to have their stars of the month. We can't have the same person every month.
  10. FYI I don't consider Texas the South but whatever floats your boat. Maybe eastern Texas but Western Texas is just "foreign." For example, Dallas is NOT a Southern city. *Oliver Hardy-Georgia*
  11. Franchot Tone and Joan Crawford in a lot of movies
  12. Gail Russell Kay Francis Burgess Meredith Edited by: Lagamorpha on Nov 7, 2013 1:09 AM
  13. Yes Tracey, I'm named after bunnies but I spelled it wrong and can't change it. Oh well, it's like my own name now. I enjoyed Night of the Lepus too. I feel both the parents and child were to blame on what happened. lol
  14. And her ex-husband William Wyler directed her in my favorite movie ever! *The Good Fairy*, which was show at Film Forum in NYC and also one of the theatres in Paris!!!! I went to both because I'm crazy!!!! It's on Netflix. It's around and the most beautiful movie. I know I"m a little emotional with The Good Fairy. You can't beat a cast with Margaret, Herbert Marshall, Frank Morgan, Reginald Owen, Alan Hale, Beulah Bondi, Cesar Romero, etc Backstreet is another movie I like with her. TCM could also air the Irene Dunne and Susan Hayward "Backstreet" as part of her month!
  15. Margaret Sullavan would not be a detriment to ratings. She was an actress back then. It's part of the TCM product. TCM just showed an experimental documentary followed by avant-garde shorts. I mean that sounds like "educating" to me. Anyway having Margaret Sullavan as star of the month isn't going to be the ONLY program highlight for the month. There will be other movies to help ratings. I'm not a Grace Kelly or Danny Kaye fan but it won't deter me from watching other offerings if they are stars of the month.
