  1. Cary Grant (because..he's Cary Grant...) next--someone you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley
  2. They aren't 'police' films, but nypd is big part of movies from West Side Story to the "Torchy Blane series. Do the Right Thing, Wait Until Dark, The Out of Towners, The Delicate Delinquent, Shaft....
  3. In this film about 'putting on the show', the third billed performer is the talented singer who portrays the top billed actress (who doesn't sing) in the Broadway play. The leading man was established in musicals..but at another studio.
  4. Baby Marie, a rags to riches to rags story, big in the silent era.
  5. Gene Lockhart, in A Christmas Carol, was married to his real-life wife Kathleen Lockhart
  6. Thanks For the Memory--The Big Broadcast of 1938, which of course, became Bob Hope's signature next--the great outdoors
  7. State Fair--just by virtue of adding the music, I prefer the 45 version over the original, but don't care for the 62 remake next--a parade
  8. On the Loose, popped up completely unexpected...love when that happens. It's one of the Thelma Todd/ Zasu Pitts comedy shorts from the early 30's...the two, as always, are working girls bemoaning their lack of luck. A wealthy Brit splashes them, and insists on buying them new clothes at a chic boutique run by Billy Gilbert, sans moustache, who steals scenes as a fussy designer. They agree to go out with the gentleman and his friend, dressed up and expecting big things...but end up where all their dates take them--Coney Island. Fun 20 minutes.
