I think one of the most famous examples is Jerry Lewis's The Day the Clown Died, which he starred in, directed, and co-wrote. He had it locked in a vault, and later gave it to the Library of Congress, stipulating that it would wait years after his death to show it

Doris Day didn't like the films her ex-hubby/manager signed her to do...without her okay...including Where Were You When the Lights Went Out? I finally saw this, and...she was right...good cast wasted on series of lame 'mistaken identity' nonsense. which mainly happens in one house outside the historic NYC blackout (that could've been funny...)
