Frankenstein a quick check shows 99 titles of feature films contain that word...and that doesn't count all the 'man made monster' films that were influenced by it .

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde not only are there numerous versions of the original story, but it's updated in The Nutty Professor (and it's remakes)

Are porches and verandas the same thing?
I wondered about that too, so I looked it up...if it has a roof over it, it's a veranda ! I learn something new every day...

Funny Girl --has both, with opening overture mostly the song "People"
West Side Story --overture is 'sampling' of several songs, while the intermission is "I Feel Pretty"
Topol introduces The Fiddler on the Roof, who plays the overture

I am thinking there must be some epic war films with an overture and/or intermission.
Maybe THE LONGEST DAY or BATTLE OF THE BULGE? Not sure since I haven't watched them lately.
Not positive, but I don't think The Longest Day had either...I'm pretty sure it didn't have an overture...(it's opening is on Youtube...)

A montage of madcap scenes leads to a perplexed Spencer Tracy...which leads the intermission in It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

In My Fair Lady, both the overture and intermission are played over florals...

(edit: didn't see My Fair Lady mentioned above...sorry)

Just offhand, I would guess the curbside entry/exit would allow better camera access...the shot would show the actor to best advantage.
I've wondered about the huge doors, but I think the sets were built to show 'opulence'...rich people=big houses=big doors (and staircases), and on a small set, there were few ways to show that.
Just my guesses.

Yes, I was thinking not only has Emma been on the large and small screen, most people know it as Clueless (1995)...and of course, Bridget Jones' Diary=Pride and Prejudice
