I hate to think of anyone waiting for Sunday! (or sitting through those awful sick kid/hurt doggie ads on ota tv)...if you don't have Hulu (which has all the episodes) y ou can stream it anytime, anywhere at Uncle Earl's Classic tv site....here's the link to the Dick Van Dyke episodes https://www.solie.org/alibrary/TheDickVanDykeShow.html love the site...it's a gold mine of classic tv--a lot easier than wading through youtube...and no ads!

Jerry Van Dyke played in Palm Springs Weekend and on his brother's show-- George Segal plays the banjo too, but I couldn't think of any films he played it in...

As a Columbo fan, I can recognize Mike Lally (he did bits on a lot of them)...not sure how clear it is, but here he is as a tram operator in season one: -

It really doesn't exactly match your description, but it made me think of Panic in Year Zero...after Ray Milland and his family leave LA for a country vacation, the city is destroyed, and they have to scavenger around for food in a post apocalypse world. This may not be it, but I'm almost sure it's not James Stewart you're looking for.

Well I'm starting to think I'm going crazy (not the first time...) so I'm now on a microsoft surface that I use as my laptop, and I clicked it...and just like you I got nothing. Went back to my android tablet....it plays fine!! I don't get it, I use Chrome browser on both. The only difference is this is a microsoft based system on the surface. If you have an android device, phone whatever, try it on that...bet it runs.

It sure does..just checked, using chrome browser on an Android tablet, and it played, no pop ups, and I fast forwarded a couple times just to make sure. I think when I initially opened it before, another tab opened up, but I closed it, and it works fine. Theres a box above the film that says sign in to see more, but I've never signed into this site. I'm sorry, I really think this is the film described.
