If TCM's viewers enjoy silent era films so much, maybe they would be open to more foreign/subtitled films? Why not showcase actors like Jean Gabin, Yves Montand, Alain Delon, Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert, etc. Or Italian films - directors like Visconti, Bertolucci, Fellini? Or closer to home, what about Mexican or Canadian films? Both countries have a film industries. We have seen films about the African American experience, but what about the Mexican American or Asian American experience? I love classic mainstream movies, but maybe we could increase the range a little?

TCM Spotlight: Fan Programmers

I can't find the requirements for guest programmers on this website. Does anyone know what they were supposed to do? Submit a video? Write a paper? How were they chosen, by what criteria? I haven't seen all of them, but liked the lady from Tallahassee who videotaped herself, and the girl who presented "Waterloo Bridge". Other than that, I am a little disappointed that so far most films chosen have been sort of "TCM formula" movies, not too many films that TCM doesn't show over and over. Am I the only film noir and foreign film fan among TCM viewers? As for the presenters, as I said, the lady from Tally was creative etc, but so far I don't think Drew Barrymore has anything to worry about.
