I've seen RTPH two or three times over the years. It has my favorite hearing-aid wearing villain, though obviously there's not a lot of competition for that title.

In general Wikipedia is a fine source. -
I don't mind non-baseball players wearing ball caps, though I wouldn't myself. Some people just don't look good in ball caps. James Carville has been on TV a lot recently wearing an LSU ball cap. Not a good look, but I guess he thinks it looks better than his shiny bald head. I do have a LA Dodgers ball cap, probably a souvenir from their last World Series win, which was ages ago. I never wear it. Even when I lived in the northeast I never wore a hat. Just say no.
-
Some folks look good in ball caps, others not so much. The last time I wore a hat was when I was a kid and had one of those long brimed winter hats with earflaps that everyone wore. I think my dad had one old fedora that he almost never wore and it collected dust in the upper shelf of a closet. He switched to gimme caps. I feel about hats and neckties the same as about war--what are they good for? Absolutely nothing.

If Russell wore a hat it likely would have been a top hat. He was a bit of an aristo after all. In most of the photos I have seen he is bareheaded. Why I Am Not a Hatwearer.
-
At least with a hat you can hold it over your nose in case of a gas attack. I still can't go with a hat. No hat, no cattle. I got to hit the hay because I got to get up early tomorrow and break some horses.
-
Not bad at all. If they ever make a sequel to No Country for Old Men, you're right there. To me that's sort of a cross between a fedora and a western hat. All you need is a couple of those fancy feathers and a small cattle skull. But then again, hats ain't my thing. Hey, tell cookie to hurry up with that chili, we all gettin' hungry.

I've been watching reruns of Mad Men and Don Draper wears one of those little fedoras that look like some kind of modernist ashtray. It's not too bad in the early 1960s episodes but in the later 1960s ones it's like Here comes the square.
-
Yeah, did you ever see a photo of Bertie Russell wearing a fedora? Hats just don't make it, no matter what your religious beliefs.
-
Now that you mention it, I guess Widmark did have that facial look, but I haven't seen those cartoons in a long while, so I mostly remember the big hats. It takes a little bit away from Udo's menace when you're LOL at his head gear.
-
I just picture a bunch of sweaty guys taking their hats off, wiping their heads with hankerchiefs and then putting their hats back on. No thanks. I have no idea what the hat size represents and since I'll never wear one don't care. Thank goodness they went out of style and stayed out of style.

It's harder to not put a space between words than you'd think, going against habit. Yes, I think Mary is the older term. The one I never quite got was light in the loafers. I'm glad men don't wear those kind of hats anymore. Who wants to wear something with a sweat band. The one I always got a kick out of was the one Widmark wore in Kiss of Death. That thing was huge. It reminded me of the hats in the old Spy vs. Spy cartoon.

Death Takes No Holiday -- The Obituary Thread

Sorry to hear about Dave Roback. Both he and Hope seemed to shy away from the limelight. Mazzy Star didn't put out a lot of albums, but each one was most excellent. R.I.P. -
I don't mind Oscar month that much. I like to watch films I haven't seen in a while and the rare movie I haven't seen before. Night Must Fall was, for whatever reason, better than I remembered it. I never have the TV on in the background. If there isn't anything I want to watch I just turn it off and do something else. I only look at the schedule a day or two ahead of time. I like to be surprised.

Go **** yourself. I'm sure Joe Pesci used that phrase in some mob flick.
-
Not that it's a big deal, but Mencken worked for The Baltimore Sun and is associated with that city, though his columns likely appeared in NYC newspapers in syndication. Rock of Ages, age of rocks. Whatever.

Is that a gun in your bath or.....Angie Dickinson in Big Bad Mama. Not sure if it's from BBM I or II.
-
Yeah, I never expect much logic from the censors.

So far, so good. Oops, I never even noticed the sink. That character lived in a rundown place in NYC, thus the rusty sink. It's hard to tell, but it seems that you can see Jayne Mansfield's nippers in one of the photos. They did delete my post of Victoria Abril and friend in Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down. Party poopers.

Susan Sarandon in Joe. She did not play the title role.
-
That could have been a factor. I just figured that being on the same network and both being set in the west, it just made sense. It's funny to see West and Gordon show up in the Long Branch.
-
Conrad was too handsome to play Liddy . FETV had some kind of memorial mini-marathon to Conrad over the weekend. I've noticed a lot of the sets from TWWW are the same as those from Gunsmoke--the main street, the Long Branch saloon, Matt's office and jail, the stairs to Doc's office. Makes sense since both shows were CBS westerns made at the same time.
