  1. Eurospy was its own genre of films in the mid 60's soon after the Bond franchise began. There's lots of films like this out there. The craze followed the "sword and sandal" films, and was followed by the "spaghetti westerns"
  2. Octopussy (1983) Smokey and the Bandit II (1981)
  3. There are certain things I will never take part in regardless if I'm the only one. I have found that, in time, the rest of the world eventually catches up, or at least enough to make a difference.
  4. In this international world we live in, it might be difficult to find a major company that doesn't have its hand in some dirt, or has been in the past. They give a fancy name to not subsidizing something you don't believe in. They call it "cancel culture". I call it paying attention to where your money goes. Your pocket book is always your best weapon.
  5. They're still living off the old paradigm of getting $150/month out of every household. Whether its cable/satellite/internet/cellular / or even landline ๐Ÿ™„, they don't care which service you choose. And people are ditching that plan in droves. I don't know anyone under 60 who has a direct at this point. Most people I know under 30 do watch their entertainment this way. I knew this streaming free for all would eventually settle down at some point. All those $5 and $10 and $15 bills each month add up eventually. And nobody watches all of them.
  6. There are those hated trump when the election was lost. Then love him when insulting Biden. And of course , if they lose in the mid terms, they will once again disassociate themselves from trump. Depends on which way the wind blows.
  7. Republicans want us all to simply forget that last four years...unless it suits their purposes. When MM says one nice thing about a liberal, be sure to call me. I won't be holding my breath.
  8. Awakenings (1990) Lorenzo's Oil (1992) Medicine Man (1992)
  9. Shaft (1971) Star Wars (1977)
  10. Jimmy Stewart - Harvey Leslie Howard and Humphrey Bogart - Petrified Forest Shirley Jones - Oklahoma!
  11. Vivien Leigh Dorothy Dandridge Alan Ladd
  12. I've never been to either place. Traffic and parking prevent many from visiting such places. Los Angeles is not well designed for entertainment districts. Places are so spread out. And too much time and trouble to make the trip.
  13. Now, that's a sentiment I can really get behind ! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ
  14. Moonraker (1979) Evolution (2001) The Phantom (1996)
  15. We didn't win. No way to use the propaganda to promote anything.
  16. And Bombshell (2019) Soapdish (1991) S.O.B. (1981)
  17. A Trip To The Moon (1902) Ironclads (1991 TV Movie ) Thunderball (1965)
  18. Groundhog Day (1993) Starts over everyday ! 50 First Dates (2004) He has to start over each day because she has no memory
  19. Ben Stiller: Envy (2004)/Meet the Fockers (2004) Johnny Depp: Alice in Wonderland (2010)/The Tourist (2010) (Although, in each case, I prefer the panned film.)
  20. I think that's more about the style of the film rather than one being better than the other. Hello, Dolly! was more of a film of its time. Big budget musicals were going away(It may have been the last successful one), Studio system was fading. It was an event to go see it. Whereas TSH,DT, was such a period piece that could have been made anytime. And so well done, its a film that can be broken down and analyzed for decades, as we are doing right now. It has more staying power. You can watch it multiple times and notice something different each time. Award shows are about celebrating
  21. Well, many of us "centrists" lean both ways depending on the topic. Or lean neither way because in real life there are more than two choices. I've never been comfortable with statues of anyone. People are imperfect beings. In today's age, we know so much about everyone. Its very easy to find dirt on any person and slam them the moment they do something you dislike. So why bother ?
  22. Classic example of "Its not what you say, its what you do"
  23. Octopussy (1983) Fail Safe (1964)
