  1. now lets see you get on tcm's case about them never showing the restored 2012 BFI cut of Hammer studios' Dracula. "and kindly be smart about it."
  2. if that is supposed to be Rathbone in the lower right corner they missed it. looks more like louis Jourdan.
  3. barry gray, the most underrated composer of the 20th century.
  4. this one I think is the best with Karloff's 3rd and final performance as the monster. I didn't really cotton to this one as a kid but today it is in my view the finest of the Frankenstein universal classics. basil Rathbone as baron wolf von Frankenstein gives the monster a medical examination and everything. it's not a perfect film as I woulda liked to have had more scenes of the monster scaring the bleep out of villagers. this movie gives us some fun medical stats on the monster like his diastolic and systolic. "he's completely superhuman!" -basil rathbone
  5. I would like to see somebody do a nostalgia piece on the forgotten americana of the automat.
  6. I've seen Breezy with William Holden a middle-aged businessman driving around in an early 1970s gas guzzler who picks up kay lenz and love ensues. a pretty good film if you ask me.
  7. child killer henry fonda in once upon a time in the west.
  8. is the liberal demonization of SOTS the reason that nobody ever talks about james baskett's special Oscar? is that fair to the complete and whole recognition of african-american participation and contributions to american cinema? for all we know the greedsters of Disney are intentionally sitting on this film so that when they do release it they can make a big hoopla about it to ring in the money.
  9. this is ridiculous. anyone who has ever seen song of the south knows it to be a harmless disney children's film from 1946 but mandingo is a sex-laden blackploitation trash film...and yet tcm will show it but never song of the south. I think there is great hypocrisy here.
  10. fundamental human reason rears it's head in Hollywood celeb land.
  11. I have always found mandingo to be an ugly distasteful film and a better title would be antebellum depravity. it ain't exactly margaret mitchell's romanticized depiction of the south in fact let tcm schedule it after every showing of GWTW. let all those who worship GWTW as some great piece of cinema get a whiff of mandingo immediately afterwards. that might take some of the hoy-faloy starch out of 'em. "I'm gonna whup that sucker right out of you." the perfect cure for rheumatiz?
  12. should mandingo be shown after GWTW?
  13. the funniest part of the movie is james mason the patriarch insisting that a young black lad lay at his feet so he can drain the gout out of his leg. at one point the kid pretends to writhe in pain because he has absorbed so much of mason's gout but mason will have none of it and insists the lad lay back down and once again puts his feet on him.
  14. lucas blew that bull from day one with the first 1977 movie. vader is in very close personal proximity to leia at the very beginning of the film and later on in the detention cell AND NEVER ONCE SENSED THAT THE PRINCESS LEIA ORGANA WAS HIS DAUGHTER. SO DOAN HAND ME THAT CRUD ABOUT THE FORCE HELPING HER STRANGULATE JABBA... jabba woulda glowed with a blue aura if she had.
  15. I didn't know that was on! I woulda set my vcr to record it had I known.
