that's Canutt with two Ts.

But I would ask this question. for years there was this annual paperback called 'Movies on TV' listing all the films being shown on american cable and it was edited by Leonard Maltin. so.... how is the magificent seven sequel titled in those paperbacks? clue: the title printed in all those paperbacks wins me the argument. so there! you mess with the expertise of a space cadet... well sir!.. you're just not gonna come out on top.

and she was hot too.

ed pulls a prank on clint eastwood.

yeah, I had read that bamboo harvester would open doors and such and was highly intelligent for a horse. one of his parents was an arabian. what killed him was people feeding him peanut butter sandwiches and a whole lotta candy. hell, at least he ate good.
-
it's doohickey, dargy. that's how I've always seen it spelt.
-
well, all I know is that three decades ago (before tcm) seeing it listed in the pages of TV Guide, it was Return of the Seven with a rating of two stars meaning fair... and that's what I'm gonna stick with. but since Ben Mankiewicz is a tcm personage he's gotta be right...even when he's wrong.
-
but the one irritating thing about mister ed is for a horse who had so much to say to wilbur, he wouldn't talk to anyone else. talk about a gimmick that was beaten into the ground. how can you watch it with not wishing that just once mister ed would shock the hell outta somebody else like wilbur's wife or addison? all the times that ed got miffed at addison and he never said nuthin'!
-
ahhh, what am I even wastin' my time for? tcm won't even show hot spell. alright for them. it's their loss.
-
good point. I would watch them undubbed. some of those films have great cinematography and slack tcm oughta be showin' um.
-
what's the title of the print tcm has aired?
-
yeah, but when somebody is right about something it should be acknowledged. mankiewicz plainly got the title wrong but the point is he's on tcm and is supposed to be knowledgeable about a film he was talking about and he plainly was not... he got the title of the sequel wrong and what is the retort I'm a gettin"?... it doan matter because magnifcent is on DVD packaging. hey.....mankiewicz got the title wrong. so?... how knowledgeable is that? I wouldn't have made that mistake but a tcm personage did. okay, so here's what I'm kinda gettin' at? suppose they get to talkin' about the history of horror film cinematography going all the way back to say whale's frankenstein and on up. hoy can tcm touch on the contributions of the mexican horror genre when tcm never shows those movies? tcm hamstrings themselves by insisting on maintaining a fixed unchanging coffer of films which does not include the k. gordon murray mexican horror imports. has it EVEN occurred to the tcm programming dept. how much better tcm underground would be with the addition of those films? or is the truth of the matter the determining factor with their selected coffer of films economics? okay, lets say tcm gets a hankering to highlight the films of set designer william cameron menzies. they schedule invaders from mars. they run the shorter american version which is inferior to the UK version that had added scenes with arthur franz, helena carter and jimmy hunt shot for it's uk release. common sense would inform most that most american and canadian viewers might like the uk cut a little better as many have never seen it. but not tcm! they would show the inferior u.s. cut. take frenchman's creek shown several weeks ago. a simply horrible print was aired. are tcm competent cinemaphiles...or aren't they?

is it a politically incorrect now to use Grauman in conjunction with the theatre because it is a european name???
-
but it first showed up on TV as Return of the Seven and I would suppose that's how it was released in theatres as in 1966. my point is that mankiewicz getting the title wrong is not knowledgeable and to me tcm likes to come across to the public as these great cinemaphile know-it-alls. get a film title correct and I will consider that proposition.
-
after the end of the magnificent seven ben manckiewicz follows up with some trivia and incorrectly states the title of the 1966 sequel as 'Return of the Magnificent Seven'. of course there is no magnificent in the title. it is simply Return of the Seven. a space cadet like me would never have made a mistake like that. tcm are such know-it-alls they get film titles wrong.

watched it last nite and was none too impressed. back in the early seventies somehow filmmakers got this notion that jeff bridges was some kinda golden boy of acting and thus too many scenes are devoted to him. film's a waste of a helluva lot of great cinematography. steiger is wasted, ryan a little less. film coulda been a modern spin on the hatfields and the mccoys but they went for this vague psychological HS. okay, years before laban shot all of ludie's horses. why? did he wanna make a killing on cheap rustic horsemeat? and poor bucktoothed jeb. he didn't wanna do no killing yet he winds up being blown out through the middle by chickie feather. I guess laban did the right thing by just sittin' around snackin'.

I tend to assume that most other posters have already seen it. I think the story has to do with an abduction of some kind. buck-toothed gary is being held by one brood as revenge...I think. I gotta watch it.
-
what exactly is it? I've never sat through it. seems to be some sorta hillbilly feud film. robert ryan stands around looking tough like he usually does and rod steiger sits around, near as I could tell, snacking on some crackers. a course I've only usually come in at the end. some crazy old bag blows the guts out of a buck-toothed gary busey with a sawed-off shotgun. I will watch it tonite.

the responsiveness of this website is a disgrace! too much vino and less maintenance?

I stopped watching BUZZR because they refused to procure any more eps of lets make a deal. that's the only game show I ever really liked as a kid. I also watched the newlywed game and the dating game. I never liked that at the end of the newlywed game they only gave the winning couple one lousy prize like a stereo console or a color TV... sometimes a washer and dryer.
