  1. yeah, pernell roberts was a real bleep. he didn't like his bonanza character adam cartwright calling lorne greene's character 'pa'. roberts couldn't buy his character referring to a paternal parent as 'pa'. didn't the schtootz understand he was doing a TV western? well, he found his niche, trapper john and vino.
  2. he was a pioneer for water shoes.
  3. there they are!.... the two giants!... of american western cinema. comparisons be damned because Duke and Coop were friends. "because that's what's important." "yup."
  4. I guess my thread title was a bit provocatively misleading. as long as money counts we'll have cinema but the creativity is pretty bad. just look at syfy. all they can think to waste cgi on is bugs and dragons?... how about some 50 foot babes? that'll get me to watchin'.
  5. I mean these guys haven't even shown the flame barrier yet.
  6. I mean the situation at present is ridiculous. what's the point of the movie theatre anymore? a film is released and four or five months later it's on blu-ray and dvd. it is a testament to what hollywood has degenerated into. nothing.
  7. when is tcm gonna stop ignoring the mexican cherubusco-azteca horror classics? like I said before, some cinemaphiles they are. slackers. I mean they can't even extend themselves to procure some of these films for tcm underground? come on, tcm, lets make some effort to shake off the cobwebs of apathy and indifference, shall we? give yourselves a hot foot and lets go!
  8. that last one the car has always been underrated but maybe svengoolie can come up with some fun skits like the car gettin' him.
  9. yeah, but when we see shane riding past the graveyard and his head apparently lowered... that infernal question... was he dead? I think steven's wanted the audience to think so.
  10. I like warren beatty. he was on Larry King Live for a full hour years ago and he came across like a pretty nice regular kinda guy.
  11. is it me or does beatty kinda look a bit like a smiling nixon in that shot?
  12. tcm oughta show... the 1977 abc-tv mini-series "washington: behind closed doors" . based on the watergate shenanigans it stars jason robards as president richard monckton who gives a very colorful performance. I love the scene where he gets on top of a car hood and eggs on some hippies and war protesters straining against a chainlink fence. also there is: Will: G. Gordon Liddy with Robert Conrad. and Blind Ambition with martin sheen as john dean and rip torn as nixon. how about tcm breaking them out? but no, they'll beat us over the head with all the president's men a few hundred more times before they would ever think of showing my three selections if there is one thing that tcm values it is that spacious coffer of their's. oak or mahogany? I doan know.
  13. yeah I know, the guy is just so lame and unfunny.
  14. well, if you ask me colorizing sometimes enhances contrast.
  15. I'm waiting for the rediscovery of an english-dubbed print of Black Pit of Dr. M.
  16. I'm not one to post great overly long excessively analytical multi-paragraphical treatises. just post something short and idiotic, that's me.
  17. "you bet!" -will stockdale (andy griffith), no time for sergeants
  18. I was gonna set my vcr to record 'an enemy of the people' which mcqueen produced but I forgot about it.
  19. tomorrow nite the humdinger 'the invisible man' starring claude rains and directed by the great james whale. whatta film! better than whale's frankenstein flicks if you ask me. now if tcm took this and colorized it then highlighted it like all these films that they're limited engaging in theatres, whatta increase in cable viewership. why doesn't tcm think like I do?
  20. tcm are slackers for not showing his last film 'the hunter' which has gotten a bum rap. it's not all that bad and has many entertaining moments.
