  1. john williams' jaws score is superlative. I have it on CD. Jerry Goldsmith could not have done a better score for jaws than williams. that's how good it is.
  2. they hadda have an actor mimic john wayne weakly because a stronger impersonation of wayne woulda detracted from cranston as trumbo. even wayne's persona without wayne himself is powerful. the film is about dalton trumbo so they dared not put an actor on screen who could mimic wayne too much.
  3. why a female ghostbusters? why was star trek 6: the undiscovered country the last big screen outing for the original star trek TV cast? why was william shatner as captain kirk killed off in star trek generations? because hollywood studio execs are stupid bleeps.
  4. I'd like to tell svengoolie what he can do with kerwyn.
  5. doan miss claude rains in the invisible man. it's a winner!
  6. the great george kennedy R.I.P. "OK mel, you want this 707 outta here the hard way? here we go!"
  7. well how is anyone supposed to get from a title like 'spotlight' that it's a film about pedophilia and the catholic church? for all I knew it was a remake of Fame. but of course a film dealing with child molestation and the catholic church's propensities for covering it up is a most laudible goal.... but I honestly couldn't figure out the subject matter from the title.
  8. but hollywood's current nutzoidism won't spoil my enjoyment of superman vs. wonder woman when they finally make that.
  9. you pegged it! today's young white liberal studio execs are some kinda nutzoid. that explains it! boy, I'm glad I figured that out.
  10. yeah, this new batman vs. superman movie. it doan make sense by anything I grew up on. in the old days superman and batman were always friends and allies, not jealous rivals intent on besting each other. quite frankly, today's comic book mindset is insane.
  11. in other words, hollywood has been losing it. well, they better get it back...quick! before we lose patience. 100% of what they churn out today is millennial-aimed garbage. perhaps if they were a little less preoccupied with kissing up to jada pinkett-smith and spike lee and started extricating their heads from their kazoos and got some oxygen into their lungs, it might help bring 'em around.
  12. once hollywood dealt with the whole picture of the human experience, god, the devil, heaven, hell. nowadays it seems to be mostly girlfriends and greedy twentysomething wall street corporate opportunists. and the subject matter is aimed entirely at the youngest demographic. hollywood needs more films like the revenant and the martian which appeals to a broader demographic namely older viewers and not just iphone-wielding millennials.
  13. yeah, it is no small coincidence that an australian apocalyptic action film got so many awards. hollywood is politically correcticizing themselves into non-relevance. the liberals running hollywood had better start pulling their heads outta their kazoos and get cracking with more films for the american mainstream viewing audience.
  14. she was laywayed by snoke as leverage against general leia.
  15. my thoughts on last nite's academy awards.... I was very impressed with the changing color illuminations on the stage. nice greens I'm thinking of grabbing mad max: fury road. the cheryl booth isaacs speech was stupid. she said it's no longer enough to simply listen and agree. what's she gonna do? in the coming year if not enough black-oriented films are greenlighted by the white liberal studio execs, do they get an F on their report cards? but I can see the point. hollywood has now long been controlled by egg-sucking political correctness-catering white liberals so... WHY aren't more black-oriented films being greenlighted by the white liberal studio execs who control hollywood? a real hard question not. because they are hypocrites who are failing to practice what they so often agree with. there is great poetic justice here. black celebs hitting white hollywood liberals for failing to live up to their own professed standards of pc egg-suckyness... Good.
  16. Renault: do you mean to say, my dear bartender, that your establishment doesn't serve chilled cognac? bartender: NO! ! ! Renault: I was misinformed.
  17. I'm a gonna be a watchin' just to hear today's hollywood celebdom illustrate in words and thought just how apolitical they truly are.
  18. saturday at midnite. a good movie. ron howard's only good movie in my opinion. his Apollo 13 is the only decent, dramatically speaking, space-oriented drama outta hollywood since marooned in 1969. Apollo 13 also sports the most realistic mission control sets since marooned in 1969. I'll be watchin.'
  19. my favorite casablanca character is ugarte played so cleverly by peter lorre. in fact, after he's caught that's the end of the film for me. I think he shoulda hid in ilsa's luggage. can you imagine her opening up her suitcase and finding that litle devil in there. "I'm sorry, meez, I seemed to have lost my way." "oh, that's alright, little fellow."
  20. they did show it once on pay cable (HBO) around 1980. never since.
  21. does this special tcm theatre engagement mean that it won't be on ABC easter time? tcm doan even show it so why?
  22. "it was always you, viktor." "I know my dear, you don't have to tell me."
  23. how about a sequel chronicling lara's years with viktor after she got on the train without no-show yuri.... Komarovsky & Lara or simply... Viktor & Me
  24. it's no great mystery why she plugged him. she was saying help me, viktor! save me from myself. I belong with you. she couldn't fool him. with a grim determination, he is always there for her. in his own way of course.
